Insect Photography #62: A Black Ground Beetle

Ground Beetle

The Ground Beetle is similar to June Beetle but most of the ground beetle is flatted a little similar to Click Beetle. I found this ground beetle in the balcony attached to the metal rail. The whole body of this ground beetle is color black with a vertical line to its wings and it has very small dots at the vertical lines of its wings. Just likes the other beetles the ground beetle has six legs too, with a long two antenna, two small palps, and a strong jaw.

Base on their name you will encounter them under the rocks and the debris laying on the ground. Their eggs laying in soil most of the winter season are their breeding time. The ground beetle can also fly but they are not a fast walker.

After they fall here is the ground beetle laying in the blue yoga mat. As you can see the legs of the ground beetle are spiky maybe they use them to climb up to the trees or other high grounds.
