Insect Photography #34 - The Flesh Fly
Flesh Fly
I found a Flesh Fly in the railings of our roof deck 11 days ago and this fly was a little bit bigger than the Housefly. The Tagalog word of the Flesh Fly is 'Bangaw' it sounds like 'Langaw' means Fly. Unlike the Housefly, I never saw the Flesh Fly attached to decaying waste most attracted to decaying waste are the Houseflies.
Appearance
- Size - The size of the Flesh Fly is about 6-14mm long.
- Color - The color of the Flesh Fly is a little bit light gray and has 3 dark stripes.
Lifespan
- Lifecycle - The lifespan of the Flesh Fly lasts for 2-4 weeks.
- Reproduction - The female Flesh Fly deposits live larvae on a suitable feeding medium.
Here's are some of my photographs of the Flesh Fly I hope you like them.
Here's are the Flesh Fly attached to the railings.
