RE: THIS HABIT WILL KILL OUR CHAIN!!

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

yeah .. I fully agree bro.

On one side creators take huuuuge efforts to create a very valuable post, with tons of details and artistic behaviour and not even get over 1$ and not recieving any comment/share.
On the other side there are people who are aware of the autovotes they'll receive are posting a pic while sitting on the toilet, shitting a title and body and the bots are coming to vote. That has been always an isue and with hive that didnt changed so far.

But I need to add here: the downvote wars are rly damaging the network too. marky and others are blindeyed downvoting (perhaps automatically) but at the same time collecting the curation rewards from their selfvotes with their second accounts.

I try to overlook those facts to not be too disappointed by our blockchain and to stay positive but from time to time that's not working and I make a draft comment but never send it because I dont wanna spread my disappointment over the chain.

Automatic selfvotes by whales, curation trails and all that stuff will brake our kneck and only the milkers will stay here (like on steem) if that will not end in near future.

Thanks for speaking this out!

Peace!

the autovotes are a bit of the problem, but a lot of those autovotes would not spend time curating.
problem of "exposure" of some content compared to other content is all over the internet, and it is what it is. on hive you just pay more attention because there is "$" in it. quick example

This video has 4k views on youtube (it did not have initial push by people and youtube is not showing it to people

this video has 442k views. is there a difference in quality? is that difference that drastic?

and views on youtube are $ (by adds or just by shire views that give you possibility to make $)

Problem of exposure and mindless autovotes are 2 very different things! VERY.
Networking and branding is as important here than anywhere else, I agree. But here there are many other factors playing in than anywhere else because there is blatant "$" involved. From curation rewards, milking he pool, circle jerking, prejudice and more. Even elitism, too. Am I wrong? Match any of these and voila...you have now found the algorithm.
Unlike youtube the algorithm on the blockchain is very simple. The algo on youtube can be triggered in many ways and even be random. Its no comparison.

dtube chain solved this problem, but we'll see how it goes, cos probably no system is perfect

I agree. Every system is just as bad as the next good one.
I wanna see which direction dtube goes with the upcoming mainnet shenanigans

Agreed! I have come across some posts like that. Actually, plenty. Then there are the posts that have nothing to do with anything - just redundant topics or words. Basically polished spam that gets rewarded while every one keeps screaming "QUALITY CONTENT!!!" and never giving 2shits about those.

downvote wars are rly damaging the network too

I personally love downvotes. If there are upvotes there need to be downvotes too. It brings in a way of community moderation. However, downvote wars, as you mention it is abuse. Abuse of downvotes has really taken out the value it could have potentially brought to the chain.
