Did you know that this type of crocheted octopus is called amigurumi. It is a strange word in my language, since it is of Japanese origin and means knitted stuffed animal. Needless to say, they are very adorable. Every person who sees one, falls in love with them.

I have a client who to date I have made: two attachment blankets, two octopuses and a pillow in the shape of SpongeBob. I have also given her an anti-stress ball with the face of a child and a sheep like an attachment blanket. She is in love with them. The last time we met, she told me she wanted another amigurumi!

But let's see the work I bring you today. It's a cute Octopus, ideal for decorating the baby's crib. I made it in blue color because it is for a child, but you can use any color you like.

The creation of this type of woven octopus, began in Denmark to place it in the incubators of premature babies. The explanation is that the tentacles have some similarity with the umbilical cord, so the baby while inside the incubator still feels inside the placenta in a warm and comfortable environment. I don't really know if there are any benefits, but what I do know is that they are adorable. Just look at their smiles and happy faces.

Personally, I find all amigurumi cute and cuddly, but since they are small, knitted pieces that are sewn or glued, they must be treated with great care, especially if the doll is to be given as a gift to a child.

MATERIALS.
1.- Crochet needle N° 2.
2.- Anti-allergic stuffing.
3.- Colored cotton yarn: turquoise blue, navy blue, white, black and yellow.
4.- Wool needle.

TO MAKE THE HEAD.
Knit a magic ring of 5 chains, close.
Row 1. Knit 6 half stitches.
Row 2: Knit 12 half stitches, that is, two stitches in each chain.
Row 3: Knit one half stitch and knit one increase (two half stitches in the same stitch).
Row 4: Knit two half stitches and an increase: two half stitches on the same stitch.
Row 5: Knit three stockinette stitches and one increase: two stockinette stitches in the same stitch.
Rows 6 to 14: Knit one stockinette stitch in each stitch.
Row 15: Knit four half stitches and decrease one.
Row 16: Knit three stockinette stitches and decrease one.
Row 17: Knit 2 half stitches and decrease one. Insert the anti-allergic filling.
Row 18: Knit 1 half stitch and decrease one. Close.

MAKE THE TENTACLES. Knit 8 tentacles. In turquoise blue, navy blue and white.
Make 25 chains.
Knit three half stitches in each chain. Close.

THE CAP
Knit a magic ring of 5 chains, close.
Row 1. Knit 6 half stitches.
Row 2. Knit 1 stockinette stitch and knit an increase.
Turn 3 to 5: knit a single crochet on each chain, close.
Rounds 6 and 7: knit 10 stockinette stitches and return by reducing one stitch at the beginning and at the end.

With the help of the straight needle sew all the pieces together and embroider the eyes in black and white.

AHORA EN ESPAÑOL

Sabías que este tipo de pulpo tejido a crochet se le llama amigurumi. Es una palabra extraña en mi idioma, ya que es de origen japonés y significa peluche tejido. Está demás decir que son muy adorables. Toda persona que ve uno, se enamora irremediablemente de ellos.

Tengo un cliente que a la fecha le he elaborado: dos mantas de apego, dos pulpos y una almohada con la forma de Bob esponja. Además le he regalado una pelota anti estrés con la cara de un niño y una oveja tipo manta de apego. Está enamorada de ellos. La última vez que nos vimos, me dijo que quería otro amigurumi!

Lo reconozco solo tejo amigurumis. Desde que aprendí a tejer, lo único que hago son peluches tejidos. De por si tengo una cuenta en Instagram donde publico todas mis creaciones. Te invito a que me visites en only_amigurumis

Pero veamos el trabajo que les traigo hoy. Es un lindo Pulpo, ideal para decorar la cuna del bebé. Lo hice en color azul pues es para un niño, pero puedes utilizar cualquier color que te guste.

La creación de este tipo de pulpo tejido, comenzó en Dinamarca para colocarlo en las incubadoras de bebés prematuros. La explicación es que los tentáculos tienen cierta similitud con el cordón umbilical, así el bebé mientras esta dentro de la incubadora se siente aun dentro de la placenta en un ambiente cálido y confortable. La verdad no sé si tiene beneficios, lo que sí sé es que son adorables. Mira nada más su sonrisa y carita feliz.

Personalmente, todos los amigurumi me parecen tiernos y adorables, pero al tratarse de piezas pequeñas y tejidas que se cosen o pegan, hay que tratarlas con mucho cuidado, sobre todo si el muñeco se va a regalar a un niño.

MATERIALES.
1.- Aguja de crochet N° 2.
2.- Relleno antialérgico.
3.- Hilo de algodón de colores: azul turquesa, azul marino, blanco, negro y amarillo
4.- Aguja lanera.

PARA ELABORAR LA CABEZA.
Tejer un anillo mágico de 5 cadenas, cerrar.
Vuelta 1. Tejer 6 medios puntos.
Fila 2: Tejer 12 medios puntos, es decir, dos puntos en cada cadeneta.
Fila 3: Tejer un medio punto y hacer un aumento (dos medios puntos en el mismo punto).
Fila 4: Tejer dos medios puntos y un aumento: dos medios puntos sobre el mismo punto.
Fila 5: Tejer tres medios puntos y un aumento: dos medios puntos en el mismo punto.
Filas 6 a 14. Tejer un medio punto en cada punto.
Fila 15: Tejer cuatro medios puntos y reducir uno.
Fila 16: Tejer tres medios puntos y reducir uno.
Fila 17: Tejer 2 medios puntos y reducir uno. Introducir el relleno antialérgico.
Vuelta 18: Tejer 1 medio punto y reducir uno. Cerrar.

HACER LOS TENTÁCULOS. Tejer 8 tentáculos. En azul turquesa, azul marino y blanco.
Hacer 25 cadenetas.
Tejer tres medios puntos en cada cadeneta. Cerrar.

LA GORRA
Tejer un anillo mágico de 5 cadenas, cerrar.
Vuelta 1. Tejer 6 medios puntos.
Vuelta 2. Tejer 1 medio punto y hacer un aumento.
Vuelta 3 a la 5: Tejer un medio punto sobre cada cadeneta cerrar.
Vuelta 6 y 7 : tejer 10 medio puntos y regresar reduciendo un punto al principio y al final.

Con la ayuda de la aguja recta coser todas las piezas y bordar los ojos en colores blanco y negro.
