En días pasados, para ser más específicos el sábado, mi nieto Keanu, el dogo argentino del cual les he hablado en algunas publicaciones anteriores, nos dio un gran susto, al tragarse un hueso de pollo que consiguió a su alcance en la cocina.
Menos mal que mi hijo se dio cuenta, antes de que esto terminara en una tragedia, al percatarse por las estruendosas arcadas que Keanu hacía, para tratar de expulsar el hueso que se había tragado y que al parecer se le había atorado en la laringe. Como pudo, mi hijo logró auxiliarlo y hacer que el perro pudiera respirar, pues se estaba poniendo morado.
Todo sucedió en fracciones de minuto, pues mi hijo estaba comiendo una sopa de pollo y tuvo que levantarse a buscar algo en su cuarto, momento que el perro aprovechó para agarrar lo que había en dicho plato e irse rápidamente a esconder en su área de estar, pues él sabía que se había portado mal.
Cuando mi hijo volvió a la cocina, escuchó el sonido de las arcadas de Keanu y enseguida se dio cuenta de que la pieza de pollo no estaba en el plato, por lo que corrió a ver al perro,con la seria presunción de lo que estaba pasando y se llevó ese gran susto, al ver en el estado que estaba el dogo.
Seguidamente, trató de localizar un veterinario de emergencia que acudiera a la casa, cuestión que no fue fácil, pues la mayoría de ellos, no estaban trabajando ese día, hasta que afortunadamente, tras varios intentos, pudo conseguir uno que se desplazaría hasta el sitio.
El veterinario, luego de examinarlo y estabilizarlo, le recetó una serie de medicamentos, entre los cuales indicó antieméticos, protector gástrico, digestivo, antibiótico y recomendó que debía esperar unos días a ver si de manera espontánea expulsaba el hueso, de lo contrario, tendrían que hacerle una resonancia para localizar el sitio donde estuviera alojado el hueso y operarlo.

A few days ago, to be more specific, on Saturday, my grandson Keanu, the Argentine dogo of which I have spoken in some previous publications, gave us a great scare, by swallowing a chicken bone that he got within reach in the kitchen.
Fortunately, my son realized it before it ended in a tragedy, when he realized by the loud retching that Keanu was making, to try to expel the bone he had swallowed and that apparently it had become stuck in his larynx. As best he could, my son managed to help him and make the dog breathe, because he was getting purple.
Everything happened in fractions of a minute, because my son was eating a chicken soup and had to get up to look for something in his room, the moment the dog took advantage of to grab what was in that dish and quickly go to hide in his living area, because he knew he had behaved badly.
When my son returned to the kitchen, he heard the sound of Keanu's retching and immediately realized that the piece of chicken was not on the plate, so he ran to see the dog, with the serious presumption of what was happening and got that great scare, when he saw the state the dogo was in.
Then he tried to locate an emergency veterinarian who would come to the house, which was not easy, because most of them were not working that day, until fortunately, after several attempts, he was able to find one who would travel to the site.
The veterinarian, after examining him and getting him stable, prescribed a series of medications, among which he indicated antiemetics, gastric protector, digestive, antibiotic and recommended that he should wait a few days to see if he spontaneously expelled the bone, otherwise, they would have to do a resonance to locate the site where the bone was lodged and operate.
Han pasado cinco días desde que esto ocurrió, afortunadamente Keanu ha vuelto poco a poco a la normalidad, está comiendo y evacuando bien, su humor ha mejorado, ya que había estado un poco decaído. Sigue en cuarentena dentro de casa y todavía no se le ha visto expulsar el hueso.
Desde que me enteré de lo que estaba pasando el sábado pasado, estuve muy preocupada por la situación, aunque desde el principio tuve mucha fe en que todo acabaría bien, debido a la experiencia que tuve con otros perros grandes, a los que vi expulsar objetos asombrosos, que no tenía ni idea de que se habían tragado y que me dejaron sin palabras.
Como vemos, aunque uno esté siempre atento a tomar medidas preventivas para evitar accidentes, a veces hay cosas que se nos pasan por alto o que se nos escapan y acabamos en un apuro que nunca hubiéramos querido que ocurriera. Como fue este caso.
It has been five days since this happened, fortunately Keanu has slowly returned to normal, he is eating and evacuating well, his mood has improved, as he had been a little down. He remains in quarantine inside the house and has not yet been seen to expel the bone.
Since I found out what was happening last Saturday, I was very worried about the situation, although from the beginning I had a lot of faith that everything would end well, because of the experience I had with other large dogs, to which I saw expel amazing objects, which I had no idea they had swallowed and that left me speechless.
As we can see, even if one is always attentive to take preventive measures to avoid accidents, sometimes there are things that we overlook or that escape us and we end up in a hurry that we would never have wanted to happen. As was this case.
