The beach near us - Just touched the water once!
Empty beach
I'm going to live at the coast!
I really thought this would mean we'd be swimming every single day! Especially because I booked an apartment with a swimming pool knowing that I personally don't always love the sea as much as just a pool to cool off quickly. When it's 30 degrees (or hotter) and there's a good ocean breeze, I often forget to put on sunscreen every few hours, I already experienced what a good sunburn means once since we arrived one week ago, lol. I wonder if I will ever learn, probably not. Anyway, the pool will be closed until 2 days after we will leave, boohoo. Poor kid, poor me, as I was afraid this means complaining she wants to swim in the sea while I prefer just waiting a bit until we have a pool, haha.
Why wait?
Well, I kind of misunderstood some images online thinking we'd have a nice white sandy beach. This beach is not my cup of tea and my boyfriend sure isn't fond of it either. Of course, we went there the first day while having a walk to see how far we were away from the sea exactly. We walked, and when we saw the water, we decided to at least tip our toes into that because it was hot! We were wearing sandals and I decided to take them off, big mistake! Never do that again with this type of beach, just keep them on and hope for the best :) because if you take them off as I did, you might end up with a foot burn on top of the regular sunburn. I almost heard the stones make a 'tsssssss' sound when I took the last step before I could finally sit and lift my foot up from the stones. My gosh, how's that even possible these stones getting this hot!? It's freaking June only, how will this be in August? How many people will make this mistake and burn their feet by accident?
Granted, the water temperature was delish!
I think I need to act like a local and buy myself some water shoes that are meant for these situations, I just wonder how you can ever lay down without bringing a chair? I need to observe the locals I guess, so I will. The water temperature was great, not too cold at all, but I noticed big rocks immediately after stepping into the water and I think it may be a bit tricky with the little one at this beach, so I will at least explore the situation a bit further down to the other beaches soon. If it were only rocks, that would be ok, but it's also the type of beach where your foot gets sucked into the stones at least 20 cm every step you take, how to deal with that? I don't know, usually, I just don't visit these types of beaches haha.
No big beach adventures yet
I thought I was going to show off many cocktails at the beach pictures upon arrival but we yet have to find the boulevard, as well as the good beach to visit. Soon we can drive around a bit, so I bet some hidden gems will be discovered! Stay tuned :)

Hahahhaha ..this was really a funny posting. I was like reading a story about myself. Good idea to observe the local first before jumping into action!
Hahaha, did you also land somewhere where the beach is not what you expected? I had no idea, I thought oh these beaches look nice, perfect in pictures. Djeez. Not my cup of tea. I even wonder IF these water shoes will be enough not to get another stone burn on my ankles/lower legs because it was not possible to set one step without digging in deep :)
But ok, there are a few beaches near where they have a boulevard, let's at least sit there a few times and observe how others survive this madness, it must be possible, right? Or maybe it's because of this why the beach is empty :)
Soon to be continued!
Good that you literally went to test the waters first. THose rocks seem really hot - be careful. I will stay tuned to find out more.
The water is so clear. I wouldn't mind staying here a couple days. I actually prefer cooler water myself, a bit of swimming and usually quickly acclimate.
haha I can relate with this! I also tried this - definitely not something to recommend lol
PS, the water's so inviting!
Lol you are such a noob. Always ask when the pool opens/closes and it´s not just the rocks, sand beaches get just as hot so don´t try it there just because the rocks are really small !CTP
I am! Remember that the last time we lived in Spain, we didn't touch the sea until two days before leaving to Hungary? I don't think I could have find something with an open pool though, she mentioned most open when schools close. It's fine soon we can drive somewhere to swim :)
I really wonder what the closest beach is with regular sand, I think we need to move a few coasts up or down lol.

Most beaches have some reviews best to check those and indeed pools open normally between 1st and 15th of June and close at the end of Sep. Ours is opening this Friday 😁 about time
Yeah well, we'll manage either way. But when possible a pool in the community building if we find one to live, would be great ;) Let's see what we can fix ;)
Little jealous over the community pool lol. But enjoy!
Hey it took me years to get my first community pool, I am still sick I do not have my own pool anymore....
I get that, that was heaven! I remember standing at the stairs next to your home there and looking down at the pool.. the view, we loved it!
Woa, the pictures show that the water is very clean and beautiful! Love the place already.

It was quite an experience at the beach and some lessons learnt. I am looking forward to your great beach adventure update,
Love the clear water. Keep us updated!!
Beautiful shots! Is that the Atlantic Ocean then? I need to get back to the ocean sometime. I haven't been since I was a kid. I kind of miss it.
It's the Mediterranean sea.. I have mostly lived somewhere far from the sea but I'm glad that's changing :) I love the breeze and the smell of the sea. It's not constant but the first day I could smell the sea from the balcony..

That is pretty cool! There is definitely something very special about the water!
The bottom line is that you are back in Spain. Everything else will work itself out.
Spain is a beautiful country. Big fan of empty beaches.
Me too, but a bit more sandy would be great :) Guess I can't have it all (for now) lol
