Swimming plans

For weeks, we've been wanting to go swimming on the weekend but every time something pops up that avoids us from going. You'd think if you live 30 mins walk from the sea, you'd go swimming there often. We don't, I haven't touched the sea more than once to try it on day one, and ever since I've avoided it because of the beach filled with stones and uncomfortable walking on the sand (read: like quicksand but more painful thanks to the stones and rocks). The goal was to first buy surf shoes and then try again, we have the shoes but haven't yet managed to try the sea yet. I don't mind because there is plenty of time and I will probably burn like a lobster there so I'm honestly hoping we can find some less hot days when we try it again.

Municipal swimming pool

My wish was to find a swimming pool nearby so that we could just skip the stones and possible traumas from walking to the water and back. I could not find it clearly online, which is not a real surprise because many websites here just suck, or are very outdated. I decided to be bold and ask the president of this building haha, he told me about a pool not too far but it's inside only. Hey, that won't work, I live in Spain, and I want an outdoor pool at least so that I can still burn like a lobster! I didn't buy this much sunscreen for no reason, so come on give me that at least! I barely use it while walking as I hate how sweaty that stuff gets, but during swim sessions, I gladly use it! Thankfully, he came with something I would have not found myself, an outdoor pool in the next town which is even easy to reach just by walking downhill and then taking a 20 min bus to walk just a few minutes. Perfect! Even much better than a 30 min walk downhill to the sea and even worse, back uphill during the hot hours when we're fed up. Let's go for this option!

Fever

Then the girl had a fever last week though, no idea why, we never found out. So no swimming for us as we wanted her to be recovered fully. I totally expected her to have another flare-up of something as that's usually the case, but so far, nothing. This week was pretty hectic and we could not leave the house much due to workload so we were happy that the weekend arrived and decided we'd go for a swim on Saturday afternoon when the pool opens again, and guess what? Today was the only day that there was rain and thunder predicted, come on! She took it well though, and I said we'd go on Sunday instead, not realizing that I saw they are not open on Sunday, sigh. I will have to break the bad news when she wakes up.

Hopefully, she's in a good mood

She asked us if she could sleep in today, as she hates being pulled out of bed "way too early" (her words when we wake her up at 10 am !!). But as daddy also needs the rest on the weekends, we decided to give her that break and let her sleep until she woke up, she woke up at 12 PM! Sleepyhead! I will give her the luxury of a few more weeks and then slowly cut this down because we will have to be prepped for early mornings when school starts. Tomorrow by the time she rolls out of bed, I will have the rest of my work done probably, and we can just go with the flow.

Work almost finished

I'm glad I was in a good flow today regarding work with a deadline. I'm now confident I can present something valuable next week. I have also allowed myself to have a few hours of chill in the evening by going out and sitting down after some grocery shopping. Where we actually weren't planning on sitting down for a tapa until I almost fainted again in the supermarket because I'm again guilty of not drinking enough water. Of course, I never notice this at home, but this happens when the heat gets to me and I'm in the middle of a supermarket noticing suddenly the room starts to spin and I feel like I'm going to faint soon. I hate when it happens and I really need to take note of how much water I drink, thanks to @raj808 I got reminded that I may have these feelings of overheating simply because I need to drink way more water than I'm used to adjusting to the climate here. I'm still not successful in making this happen every day, and later I also realized that I drank 2 coffee so I probably needed even more water, oops.

We bought a big bottle of water

And then made our way uphill, to sit down in the restaurant halfway through our home. This one is actually always packed with people, no matter what time we arrive. They don't have a huge card of things we like but what we ate tasted good even though it doesn't look like high-quality food. The most important detail is that the kid loves their chicken strips and therefore alone it's a good fit to sit and enjoy some local chatter. Such a simple children's menu with fried egg, french fries, and chicken that tastes much better than it looks and we have a happy kid. We ordered potatoes with pork tenderloin and pepper cream sauce. Doesn't look great, but I can tell you it tastes good. The bill is never a shock either and the waiter is all fond of our daughter, especially when we taught her how to tell her that she'd like ice cream in Spanish. She was just as proud as we were haha and then took her with her to pick out her ice cream. I truly enjoy how Spanish people, in general, are so crazy about kids, this is something that I remember from our earlier time in Spain as well. It only takes a kid's smile to make a Spanish person happy so it seems.

Outdoor cinema tomorrow?

So even though the weekend didn't go according to plan, and probably will not go according to plan tomorrow either, at least we had some good times and we will try to find a replacement for the swimming plans tomorrow. Maybe we will visit the outdoor cinema. It depends on how tired we are though because all movies start at 10 PM. But it seems like a fun thing to do, and maybe I can make some @cinetv friends over time that I can onboard to our community!

Have a good Sunday and thanks for reading!

Oh what a day to explain an unplanned circumstances... So sorry about her fever, I hope she gets better fully.

An outdoor cinema would be fun, I also hope you all get to have that fun... Did you? 😅

Those meals are sumptuously tempting 🙂

As soon as you make a promise to a kid, things start to go south. But they are resilient despite being disappointed.

On this passing-out thing, are you sure you are not pregnant? (just sayin' lol)

LOL, yes I'm sure! :)
I never fainted while being pregnant either, just saying :)

I know very well where that's coming from, while the first period here was fine, even with my water intake as is, since we have this Lór barista machine, I have noticed that I'm consuming not enough water, especially with the few coffees I drink now. When I go outside and it's so humid and we have to walk uphill very steep to get home, I start to feel dizzy and I really know immediately, shit today was another day of not enough water intake.

It fits the scenario every time so I'm quite sure.. I know today is another one of these days, and that's why I decided not to go out tonight lol. It's more convenient inside with airco :)

About the promises that is so true, I often regret mentioning anything but I hope to make her happy and look forward to something by doing so. I should do this on short notice and not days in advance I guess. At least, not if there's a big chance plans can change. Note to self :) haha

I need you to stop posting all this great food ... I just ate and I am hungry again!

Great account of daily life ... it is good to live in a culture that loves children ... and clearly you love your darling and care so much about her well-being ... that is beautiful.

COFFEE and water ... please drink more AND watch your electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, sodium) as you do this. Chronic dehydration AND running low on electrolytes AND regular caffeine will mess with your kidneys over time! Please take care!
