Let's discuss the Listnerds unstaking process

Let's discuss listnerds unstaking.png

The unstake option inside Listnerds

In case you're new to Listnerds, let's first mention that your Listnerds tokens come staked when you claim them. There is a 10-week power down for unstaking. As there is still some unclarity about the unstaking process within Listnerds, and I had similar questions about this from several team members, I knew I would have to write a post about it at some point so I can clear up any questions you may have about this process.

Let's first be clear that I really wouldn't advise anyone to power down Listnerds immediately after they start earning because you will miss out on the awesome staking rewards over these Listnerds tokens. At the same time, I also feel that taking profits is recommended at some point for a few reasons, first because you may want to get back your investment at the very minimum at some point, or because you invested many hours a week into building your list and at some point feel you are at the point that you feel some returns would be nice.

Let's first answer some of the questions that I received in the past months before I tell you my personal unstaking plan later in this post to give you a bit of an idea of what you could do regarding unstaking while keep building your Listnerds stake at the same time.

E-mail marketing text divider.png

Unstaking takes 10 weeks

Although I think plenty of people assume that powering down works the same as on Hive, and comes in weekly chunks over a period of 13 weeks, this is not the case! I personally wanted to know as much info before I even considered unstaking so I asked a lot of questions. @blainjones probably got pretty tired of me as I bothered him every single day with another thing that I was not certain about or wanted confirmation that I understood things correctly. But if you ask questions, at least you won't get any surprises afterward. So let's check this unstaking option of Listnerds inside my dashboard.

afbeelding.png

Above you can see where you can find the option to unstake. It's the same place where you go when claiming your rewards and sending tokens in and out from and to Hive Engine. You can see your current stake and below a red button that says unstake.

afbeelding.png

When you click on that button you will see the memo: "Unstaking tokens takes 10 weeks, you will not be eligible for rewards during this period." Several people have asked me if they won't get ANY email rewards and/or staking rewards from the remaining stake and the emails that get verified in the next 10 weeks. This is not how it works, don't worry.

The only part where you won't receive rewards over is the part that you decide to unstake. So if you unstake 10 Listnerds and have 990 left, your staking rewards over these 990 Listnerds will continue, while the 10 Listnerds are not receiving any rewards from the moment you unstaked them. That's it, super simple!

Frequently asked questions about unstaking Listnerds

Q: Will I not be able to earn any rewards over verified emails for the next 10 weeks after I power down?

A: Your email rewards have nothing to do with the unstaking process! You don't have to worry about not earning any rewards for the next 10 weeks, it's totally separate from this process! Your verified emails will receive Listnerds rewards as per usual.

Q: Will my powerdown arrive in 1/10 parts for the next 10 weeks?

No,another thing you need to consider when unstaking is that the full amount you choose to unstake will be liquid in 10 weeks in full, not in 10 smaller parts divided like you receive your HP unstakings in 13 weekly parts on Hive. Please make sure you consider your unstaking process carefully before you press the button as for now there is no cancel option.

Q; Can I unstake only one amount?

A: No, you can add weekly unstakes as well as daily. I would advice you to write down when you unstaked a certain amount of tokens so you have an idea of when they arrive in liquids. This way you avoid confusion in the future and unnecessary questions to the dev as you believe your unstake should have been there by now. Ten weeks is a long time to wait, so it's smart to write it down.

My initial plan vs my actual plan

I personally invested a lot of time in Listnerds and will keep doing this as I'm truly focused on building my business. I have no plans on leaving this for what it is but will keep growing my list and stake as well as guiding my team members where they need some guidance. Although they are pretty awesome anyway so usually they know very well how to get the ball rolling!

My initial plan was to start unstaking a weekly amount of Listnerds when I hit the 1000 Listnerds staked. But when I hit the 1000, I was so happy with the staking rewards that I thought I should at least work towards the 2000 first and then decide if I thought it was a smart move already. As I also have quite the expensive journey ahead to move countries, I felt that I needed to secure some liquids in case I might need them, therefore for me the 2000 stake was the point where I started my unstaking plan. Instead of doing a weekly unstake, I decided to change it to a daily smaller unstake instead and up this unstake every X days. I had to see how this was evolving first because to me it was important to keep building and growing my stake as it was never the intention taking out the full earnings! Remember that I'm building something, not pulling out my earnings in full.

E-mail marketing text divider.png

Keeping track of the stats

Every day I add the earnings to my sheet, I also calculate the staking rewards every day and make sure to write down the new Listnerds stake after I took out the daily unstaked tokens. Then I also add how many I unstaked that day as well as when I can expect them in liquid. This way I have a clear view on what to expect when and can also see clearly if my stake is still growing as expected or that I should adjust my plan along the way.

I'm very pleased with the process so far and I'm adding a few tokens to the unstaked amount every couple of days. My staking rewards still grow with about 3 tokens a day every day despite my unstaked tokens.

E-mail marketing text divider.png

My plans with the unstaked tokens

I have no intentions to crash the price by dumping a bag of tokens on the market every day, let's be very clear, it's in my best interest too that Listnerds will not crash in price. I think everyone that's invested in the platform should take that into account before dumping them for a stupidly low price just to get rid of them soon. Remember that people have a chance of winning the number of tokens they bought on Hive Engine so it's interesting to buy them as they can double their purchase with the chances tab inside the Listnerds account.

I'm going to use the first month (or less if I need less, obviously) to contribute to the funds for the things we need for our new life in Spain in June and once that's all settled and I'm sure we don't have any more big purchases that need attention short-term, I will continue this tiny daily unstake (it's tiny compared to the total earnings each day) to sell my Listnerds from unstaking every day and buy HBD so that I can add these into savings for the sweet 20% interest.

I considered doing 50/50 with HP but I figured the HP can wait a month because I rather build the HBD savings first as it's such a high return. The month after Hive Power gets my attention and I will dedicate my full powerdown to building my Hive Power stake! I have some goals that I want to reach, and preferably go far beyond them, so once I'm settled in Spain, it's time to diversify the earnings and move them into these other Hive stakes that I really want to build.

So now that you have an insight into my unstaking plans and how I'm going to spend these funds at the time of arrival, I hope that I may have answered a few questions as well as inspired you to also try to only unstake without crashing your earnings as well as the market when you're going to sell.

If you want to join our awesome Listnerds team

All you have to do is follow the referral links that you can click in this post. You will automatically be added to my team when you sign up using that link. One thing I'd like to mention is that when you sign up, an offer is presented to get the enterprise membership with 30% discount (60 bucks instead of 97 bucks), if you're sure you want to take it, please do it at that moment because this offer will only be there the first time you log in.

I can assure you if you are excited and motivated to build something, you will not regret this and earn that back in a heartbeat. And never forget that investing in your business is normal and nothing comes to someone for free. Where some programs offer you shitty returns, it's already been proven by many Hive members that Listnerds is nothing like that and actually offers you a great opportunity to take control building your business with the help of this tool.

If you're excited and motivated, our team is the team you want to join! See you on the other side!

At first, I just want to reach 100. Then I changed it to 500. Now that I almost reach 50% of my goal, I am thinking perhaps your original goal will be good for me. Once I reach 1k, that's the time I will be thinking of un-staking at least 50% of my daily airdrop to grow my HP.

I have one.

What does the token do for you?

Well, the goal, for now, is to accumulate and grow my stakes. The time will come and I can exchange it for HIVE and that's the time I can use it to increase my HIVE power, to buy other layer two tokens, or exchange it for fiat to pay for my bills.

sounds like a plan, hope you get there.

Thanks! I actually didn't expect that the token will outperform my other holdings. I wish you the same success with your plan.

Very well explained. I agree that we should not end up selling the List Nerds Token. I think things will change when other uses are developed for the token like paying for services or something. I am pretty sure The List Nerds crew will come up with other uses.
Actually anybody could create a use, that is the beauty of decentralized platforms

Selling is good though, we need to have a market for them otherwise they will be worthless and meaningless earnings.

So far it's looking good, with the buy order from the team :) Soon my first unstakes will arrive and I can't wait to diversify some earnings into Hive as well.

I think that is a valid plan and you are still growing. I do think that the staking of LISTNERD rewards are a bit too high though but I believe Jon mentioned in one of the earlier streams that this should drop once a certain amount of LISTNERDS is issued.

My plan has worked out exactly as I expected, I still keep growing and I still stand by what I shared here. We can have the best of both worlds and take some profits.

Of course, I did the same, I wouldn't advise starting this before at least 2000 staked listnerds. :) Thanks for the pizza :)

Well I found you on listnerds and I came to learn more about it.

I signed up yesterday, and thought I was only going to be able to verify 4 emails per day.

By the evening, I was being able to verify more emails than I was receiving.

Does the emails you can verify go with the amount of CTP you have staked?

Also, I understand what mail is for. I understand that CTP gives you rewards, but I am not quite sure what the actual listnerds token does. Is it a simple earning token or does it have a purpose.

This sounds like a solid workable plan to help you fund your move. We all know that there are unexpected expenses with relocating. Please let us know how things work out with your unstaking #ListNerds. Good luck!

Yeah that's why I'm securing a bit of extra funds as we have no clue if we need (fe) kitchen supplies, maybe furniture it all depends on where we end up. So I want to have it available if needed. And even the little expenses add up if you buy them, I remember when we moved in our previous apartment we had nothing.

So I went to a "Euro Shop" to buy some plates, cutlery, glasses etc stuff like that. Just 4 or 6 of each, nothing fancy, actually quite ugly stuff haha, but it was expensive if you add it all up.

Admittedly I never gave much thought to the unstake process, because I never really considered unstaking them anytime soon. This is very thought-provoking, and I wonder at which point some members may decide to dump a bunch of tokens at once?

Awesome @thisismylife i like this plan it is important that people are taking a profit and trading Listnerds, otherwise what is the point to all this or any other token otherwise.
I really enjoyed this post thanks great info as always my friend

That shouldn't be a problem :) I'm all about growing my account as much as possible, but I'm also going to take these tiny parts to build the HP and HBD bags, as well as CTP :) First things first though.. moving countries.

Yeah, I can imagine that is definitely priority 1 right now. I agree with you too, based on the numbers I am seeing right now, once that 70th day hits, this should easily be self-sustaining.

Yeah, it's just a long wait as we're used to only 1 week waiting and receiving it in bits. But honestly, I think it's smart and a good thing. It will make people re-think if they want to commit because it does take dedication. I think with a new platform having shorter power down periods would not be good for the token as people might dump too much. I think Steemit had a 2-year power down at the start?

I goes with a weekly unstalking too, still preserving the growth. But I couldn't afford to accumulate: as a noob on Hive, I need to grow my HP to interact, which I can't do at 30 HP with any comment costing me a leg... So not much of a choice here

I myself have nothing to worry about since I only have 22 listnerds staked. It's more trying to create content and responding to posts I get in my inbox. It's like a bank you put money in you take money out but in this case you have to wait 10 weeks before you can take the money out .Just K.I.S.S it and it will work itself out.
