Encuentro de talentos || "No hagas suposiciones" [Esp-Eng]
❣️Hola amigos de hive!❣️
❣️Hello friends of hive!❣️

This is my contribution to this gathering of talents, where our friend @angelica7 invites us to write and reflect on the theme of the third agreement from Don Miguel Ruiz’s book: “Don’t make assumptions.” Basically, it’s about not making assumptions; it’s about curbing the tendency to guess or interpret what others are thinking, feeling, or why they act a certain way. We often fall into the trap of assuming that everyone sees life the same way we do, or we believe that people “should know” what we need or want without us telling them. This principle is fundamental when we learn to communicate clearly, as it helps us avoid misunderstandings, unnecessary drama, and suffering that exists only in our own minds, radically improving our relationships and bringing us tremendous inner peace.
So, friends, stop making assumptions; transform the way we relate to others and to ourselves, because the reality is that our minds will always create stories; it’s a natural function, and we can’t prevent those thoughts from arising. However, there are two conscious actions we can take to prevent them from taking control of us:
Remember that assumptions are built on thin air; they have no solid foundation. So the first step is to avoid drawing conclusions based on assumptions: before getting caught up in an idea, check it against actual facts. That will help you arrive at a much more realistic perspective and will immediately help regulate your emotions.
On the other hand, don’t make decisions based on what you imagine—especially if they’re important decisions. We often make decisions in highly emotional moments, and it’s only when we make a mistake that we stop to analyze reality. Do it the other way around: look at the facts first and stop making assumptions; this way, you’ll avoid unnecessary conflicts and connect with reality through empathy.
That’s why we must replace assumptions with sincere questions, so we can build much healthier, more transparent, and lighter relationships. And as Don Miguel Ruiz said, the problem with assumptions is that we believe them to be true; that’s why we must ask clear questions, communicate, and avoid causing harm with our own assumptions.
