It is easier on Hive to get votes than it is on any other social media platform.
While Hive isn't huge, there are still a lot of people here making it hard to find everyone. I recommend engaging with other authors as the best way to get exposure early on. Don't just comment to comment though, add something valuable to the conversation. Don't try to serve yourself.

What position with 3D printing have in let's say 2 to 3 decades from now? Will we see the promises of 3D printing being materialised?
I think the biggest thing with 3D printing will be multi color. Right now we have it, but it is very poorly implemented.
This is a good example. See how much waste (and time) to produce a simple object with two colors. This is because the nozzle has to be constantly purged prior to switching colors and when there are color switches in the same layer it causes a lot of waste.
Single color 3D prints are boring, and lack any visual depth. While I love 3D printing and it is really cool, I am more into it for functional prints, prints that solve a problem.
There are many other things I think that are important as well, speed, resolution, line reduction, but I believe multi-color is the biggest hold back.
I think we have already, granted we still have a ways to go. For example, during the rough times of Covid, many have donated their time to print 3D masks to help hospitals. They also printed other devices that cost a fraction of what the official device costs while helping supply during major shortages. I have seen people missing hands print their own replacements offering a cost effective alternative to unavailable solutions. There are companies actually 3D printing houses.
3D printing's best claim to fame is rapid prototyping, and not final products. Companies who manufacturer products are able to use 3D printing to quickly validate their designs and ideas without expensive short run manufacturing. This is a huge boon to companies and can save them tons of money while allowing them to be far more agile.
That being said, 3D printing has a lot of room to grow to become what you see in Sci-Fi movies.

You've touched on some interesting points.
The multicolour one, that's indeed something the smaller, home/studio printers can improve. To be honest, the technique of these printers may not be the technique that will win in the end. For mockups, yes, but I expect other techniques to be the winners. It has been quite some years ago I was running around in this market to understand what was available. Back then, I think it was in 2013 or 2014, I ran into Shapeways and iMaterlise. With the latter, I ordered a little object from one of their industrial-grade colour printers. Resolution pretty ok, colour super, however now after years, the colour starts to fade away.
Yea, I live in Amsterdam and one of the house print projects is right in the middle of this city, well, maybe not in the exact middle, but quite close by. Someone build a metal bridge in our red-light district. To be honest? I didn't take the time yet to check out this one myself. This convo serves as a reminder for sure.

Last year, or maybe two years ago by now, the first jaw was printed and successfully implemented in a human.
Though some of these are no brainers, any object that needs a design and is manufactured just a few times can benefit from 3D printing. Large scale and local production is something that is THE promise of 3d printing. On large scale, I don't mean, many of the same objects, but I mean a few to single off of an object but on large scale. Back in the days, I was thinking of concepts of having a 3D printing shop in each district, just a few minutes away from our own doorstep. With marketplaces filled with 3d objects and parts to get something new, or replace a broken part. Where designers of objects create the parts 3D model and offer them to the world. I think this can still happen, though it's clear to me (already back then) this is not happening any time soon. I was quite surprised to learn 3D printing was already done for more than 3 decades. Materialise, the sister company of iMaterialise does the industrial projects, including parts for BMWs and whatnot. I've seen their printing factories. Amazing stuff they have. But all this was like 7 or 8 years ago, so by now, even better technology must be in their factories.

Nope. There are no rules here, just what people personally feel is acceptable.
If you post once a day you are fine, if you post 100 you will likely be downvoted. The actual number is somewhere between there, and is different for each person.
In my opinion, I feel one is acceptable unless you have something of value to contribute.

What is the highest reputation one can reach on HIVE?
I don't think there is actually a ceiling. Reputation is a useless metric though, it is really just the sum of all votes minus downvotes.
Look at some of our top reputation users.
Really shows how useless it is.
Replacing rep with something more valuable has always been on the list of things to do in a future hard fork, I hope it is handled soon.
I have been trying to come up with ideas of what can be used as signals, but to be honest you can't trust anything as it is all financially motivated.
For example, the obvious choices are:
All these are generally untrustworthy due to automatic voting, blind voting, trading.
The last hard fork helped a lot to make voting more organic, but it is still not enough to use as a metric of reputation.

Share your Hive content on social media. This isn't always easy as it sometimes gets shadowbanned on platforms like Reddit, but if the content is good it can usually get by.

None really, I mostly play Souls games and Hunt: Showdown, and some modded Minecraft. I am trying to wrap up Metro 2033 so I can play the follow ups and start catching up on games I've been wanting to play. In about a week Elden Ring will take up all my time as my son and I play.
The closest would be "Minecraft", but honestly modded Minecraft is so far from Minecraft it is like comparing Jerry Banfield to Kingscrown. They both suck but for entirely different reasons.

I got hooked on Farming Simulator 22 recently. It's actually not bad...
You got me thinking though. Could make a mod, switch out the sunflower tops with Jerry Banfield heads; then take out like fifty at a time with the harvester.

Yes, you will receive less than the 50% curation unless people remove votes.
Imagine this scenerio. Five people vote $10 on a post, this gives the total payout to be $50, $25 to author and $25 shared with curators. Everyone used $10 worth of voting power.
It gets downvoted to $25, basically reducing it in half.
Now every curator shares a pool of $12.5 worth of curation rewards but were previously sharing $25 pool.
If some people remove votes, there are less mouths to feed and you can potentially earn more, potentially even more than 50%.

How do I find out the current coded inflation rate of Hive? I remember vaguely that it's supposed to be decreasing by 0.5% a year and stopping at a floor of 1 or 2% (or something like that)?
It is currently 7.3%.
I believe it started at 9.78% and the floor is 0.95%.

How imminent is the threat of Quantum computing and is there anything we ought be doing pre-emptively in an attempt to negate the threat as it would have massive implications to the crypto sphere?
It’s really hard to tell. Many believe quantum computing is a real threat.
The thing is everyone is already working on post-quantum encryption. NSA is, Bitcoin is, all the major players are already planning for it and will likely be ready before serious quantum computing is.
Crypto isn’t the only threat. Every system out there is, banking, social media, backups, it is all at risk.

same, when I was helping out someone who had all these books one was about wealth building vs. rich and way all the way back before "social media" , Honda's were the numba' uno choice as it's not all : 1. looks like a Dust Buster 2. doesn't make one look like a Peacock because they get eaten by a Lion first 3. Right now it is manually, this is because of some things I am waiting for to be changed in the API so I can fully automate it.
I basically have a script that watches for market activity, then creates insert statements and I insert them when I get around to it. Usually every few hours.
There is a condition that can cause a crash, once that's resolved, it will be fully automated and near real time. You will need to hit F5 though to refresh the page.

Not really. I felt it just resulted in very low quality/plagiarized content and no one was really reading them anyway.
May be a better version, with better criteria and rulesets, something about Showcasing the Best Products Available at the first stage. Reviewing with a personal touch and thoughts, etc, etc.
Perhaps, but without users outside of Hive reading and engaging, not sure how much use it has.

Hi @themarkymark I have been reading your post for a long time and I am impressed by your efforts to promote Hive and onboard new creators onboard.
I do writing assignments for a living (my bread and butter during these covid times) and as part of my work I wrote a few posts that mentioned steem here on Hive.
As a result I am getting down votes on my posts and comments. I have no intentions of offending anyone here with my content.

You would need to reach out to Hive Watchers but I don’t think you are on a blacklist. Likely just some individuals offended by mentions of Steem.

I downvoted a couple posts when it was reported, but then stopped after like 2-3 posts. BuildAWhale is my account, but the discord is shut down as there is no reason for a discord.
You haven't posted in some time, I am not sure if others will continue to downvote you. I think the big issue was Steem related posts, but maybe they got overzealous. I just noticed it brought up in abuse channels and didn't spend too much time on it.

Hive can easily be cloned as can most things bring people to it and getting them to want to use it is a very different thing.
Does the amount of votes we give to a witness increase as the amount of Hive Power in our Hive wallet increases?
Will it increase if we get delegation? So, will the rank of the witness we voted rise in this way?
It increases as you gain Hive power but unaffected by delegations.

There have been times it has been more frustrating than others. I try to not let things get to me. As for burn out, you have to pace yourself, find things you enjoy, put your time there.

My Question on Hive: I am aware engagement is key on Hive and I do a lot of that, especially in my niche communities. However, I realize having friends with high stakes/votes helps people regardless of their content quality as I've seen this time after time. I get discouraged sometimes as I put in a lot of effort given my available resources to create content, engage with my community members but sometimes I don't get the visibility on my content. Please how can I improve this situation?

Engage with others, find others who share your passions, join communities and discords with like minds. There is no simple answer, but it all involves around getting your name (brand) out there in a non-self serving way.
