Life In Pink | My 'How I Met Your Mother' LoFi Cover/Fanart

I cannot count how many international TV shows I've watched over the years. One thing's for sure though, I still remember the first one that introduced me to this subculture.

'Suit up!'

'It's gonna be legen.. wait-for-it...'

'Moist'

'That's a p$nis!'

Those were just some of the lines that come to mind whenever I remember How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). It was introduced to me by my college classmate back in 2011. I still remember it clearly because it was around that time that I bought my first laptop. HIMYM was already on it's 6th season, so I did alot of catching up.

When its finale aired on 2014, I had mixed feelings about it. Luckily, my wife and I were already dating back then. So we were able to discuss it with each other.

The following paragraphs may contain some major spoilers.

CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

We sort of have the same conclusion: they did the mother dirty. Although there were a lot of fans who really liked the final episode, we on the other hand felt really betrayed. Why spend an entire season for us to get to know Tracy? Then have her killed and let Ted show up at Robin's apartment bringing a blue french horn? Just because the creators already planned this ending since the second season doesn't mean that it will still work.

Anyways, we just settled with our own alternate ending. With our version, the episode ended with the scene where Ted told Penny and Luke about the story of how he met their mother, then credit rolls. No Tracy-got-sick-then-died, and no Ted-rushed-to-Robin's-apartment scenes.

Moving on, as of this writing we rewatched the entire series for more than 3 times already. And every time we get to the final season, we always loved the episode where Ted overheard Tracy singing in the balcony while playing the ukulele. Her rendition of La Vie En Rose was the best version for me, aside from the original of course.

Making My Fanart

I was still experimenting with my art style while making this piece. You can clearly see the difference from my current style. For the animation part, it was heavily inspired by the train station scene. It is where Ted met Tracy, and where they got to know each other under the iconic yellow umbrella. I did the animation using Adobe Animate.

For the music background, I got some parts of the song that was sung by Tracy in the balcony scene. Also included some of their dialogs when they first met at the train station. Finally, added my LoFi flavor to it. Then boom, I just love the result. By the way, the music part was all done in Garageband for iOS.

Here is the result:

..dary. Legendary!

Very creative, I liked the final result inspired by those tv shows. Although I'm one of the few people who haven't seen a single episode of How I Met Your Mother, but I know it was a series with a lot of audience.
