The Joyful Band Player: My Entry to Draw A Day Community Challenge! June 16 2023

This is Pipo the joyful band player. He is a piece of old PVC pipe that was lying around a junk shop. He was given a chance to life and assumed the character of a band player upon the wish of an innocent child one stormy night. Pipo is quirky and an optimists despite his limitations. He does not have arms and legs but managed to be a part of a marching band. He jumps and hops creating some sounds that helps his band make some melodic tunes.

I am not sure where this is heading but I am thinking about an old PVC pipe in this color

I am struggling to create something here so I decided to draw the face first and maybe I can get myself going. At this stage I am debating about that thing I put on its head is it an extension of the PVC pipe or is it a cap?

At this point I can not decide whether to give it a coat or just a small scarf and these are the options I was making and color choice is a bit of struggle

And so a small coat it is but I chose the color red as it is already looking washed up. Fun to make despite the challenges of making choices.

Now that the basic shape and idea of this PVC pipe character is already decided upon and made it is now time for the little details and some polishing. This is the part where I can get to chill a bit. The red coat needs some embellishments so I added this gold stitching on the sleeves. I added some details on the body to make it look aged and distressed like an old PVC pipe. I was thinking whether to add legs and arms but I think that is too much detail and the I might lose the PVC character what do you think?

The hat looks incomplete so I added this last detail , a gold cord that swings when the character moves. I think I like it.
