My four closest classmates and I are having breakfast at our school cafeteria when we receive many messages from our group chat informing us that the professor, whom we will be assisting with a class activity, has already arrived. Thankfully, we had already finished eating and just talking, so we got up immediately and moved back faster.
When the elevator opened, we came across our co-interns and were confused as to why they had come down. They said that Doc should just inform them that the activity has been moved to the afternoon, but since we will be having a quiz bowl at 1 p.m. the same day, he gave them the power to choose if we would help facilitate the lower years or join the quiz bowl. If we choose to take the duty, our group will be exempt from the quiz, but they chose the latter part simply because the quiz bowl will not consume much of our time and then we will be free after, so we will have time to study for tomorrow's didactics rather than be on duty for the whole afternoon.
After talking to our co-interns, we still went up because we left our bags there and decided to just stay in the same room to study. As I sat down, I realized that I had not yet finished reading even half of my review notes for the quiz bowl, so I must cram again since it is a group quiz and there will be one representative per team for each question. There will be a five-day merit for the group that can get a perfect score; if not, the team that has the highest score will have a three-day merit while the other team will receive a two-day merit.
Not that long we have to leave the classroom because a class will be held that needs to use the room, so the five of us agreed to transfer to the library. Good thing there is a spot that can accommodate us. Ten minutes before the quiz, we decided to go to the assigned room where the quiz would take place. As I entered the room, one of my classmates said that I was assigned to the moderate category; they had already finalized the assignment, she added. I was taken aback and went close to our team leader to confirm it, then he showed me the list. I tried to convince one of my friends if we could swap because he got the easy part, and I know he already started studying a week prior. I’m really not confident; I'm not even able to finish reading all the notes, so I’m worried, but then he just told me that I can do it. "We are 20 in our group, but only you and Charm (our studious member) got a correct answer from the preview quiz bowl, so it is normal for us to believe in you," he reasoned.
At exactly 1 p.m., our instructor arrived, and the quiz bowl started immediately after they gave some instructions. When it was my turn to answer the question, I was so nervous because I was not sure of my answer; I just followed my gut feeling. When it was time to reveal the answer, my nervousness got the best of me when I saw that I and my opponent had different answers. I almost jumped when I realized I had the correct answer. I felt proud as I received applause from my teammates, and my friend even teased me if I really did not study.
The quiz finished with 24-18 points, and of course, our group (group C) got the most points🤗!
