La historia de Palito de canela (Esp-Eng)
Hola a todos los que frecuentan esta bella comunidad! Como amante de las agujas, siempre estoy buscando tela y trabajando en nuevos proyectos. Hace unos años hice a (Cinnamon stick) Palito de canela una muñeca muy especial para mi, le contaré cual es la razón.
Hello to all who frequent this beautiful community! As a needlework lover, I am always looking for fabric and working on new projects. A few years ago I made Palito de canela a very special doll for me, I will tell you the reason why.
En el 2018 mi hija mayor @chacald.dcymt, tenía 1 año de haberse ido desde Venezuela a Cuba para recibir atención médica por su enfermedad. Para una madre tener a sus hijos lejos es un gran sufrimiento y mi hija estaba recibiendo un tratamiento oncológico que la debilitó y estaba muy enferma realmente. Me sentía triste todo el tiempo por no poder estar con ella. Le escribía correos electrónicos todos los días para saber como estaba y tratar de distraerla, era la única forma de comunicarnos.
In 2018 my eldest daughter @chacald.dcymt, was 1 year old having gone from Venezuela to Cuba to receive medical attention for her illness. For a mother to have her children far away is a great suffering and my daughter was receiving an oncology treatment that weakened her and she was very sick really. I felt sad all the time that I could not be with her. I wrote her emails every day to know how she was doing and try to distract her, it was the only way we could communicate.
En uno de sus correos mi hija me dijo que una amiga iba a viajar a la isla para acompañar a un familiar a recibir atención médica. Así que le hice un paquete con algunos documentos que necesitaba, crayones y papel para dibujar, sus acuarelas y pinceles y se me ocurrió hacerle a Palito de canela.
In one of her emails my daughter told me that a friend was going to travel to the island to accompany a family member to receive medical attention. So I made her a package with some documents she needed, crayons and drawing paper, her watercolors and brushes and I thought of making Cinnamon stick for her.

Tomé retazos de tela y empecé la elaboración. Bordé sus expresiones y le hice un vestido.
I took scraps of fabric and began the elaboration. I embroidered her expressions and made her a dress.
Su vestido lo hice en 2 partes, un estraple y un bolado que cubriera sus hombros.
Her dress was made in 2 parts, a stole and a bolado to cover her shoulders.

Hice otros detalles como un pantalón corto y un turbante. Y algunas prendas de joyería que hice para la muñeca como aretes colgantes, pulseras y collares.
I made other details such as shorts and a turban. And some jewelry I made for the wrist like dangling earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
Cuando mi hija recibió el paquete y encontró a Palito de canela adentro su alegría fue inmensa. Me lo hizo saber por un correo electrónico y mantenía cerca a su nueva amiga. Yo me sentí muy contenta de saber que no podía estar con ella pero por lo menos esta muñeca la acompañaría.
When my daughter received the package and found Cinnamon Stick inside her joy was immense. She let me know via email and kept her new friend close. I was so happy to know that I couldn't be with her but at least this doll would be with her.

Hoy en día, 3 años después, mi alegría es otra. Mi hija tiene una bebé de 14 meses, es mi única nieta y su primera muñeca fue Palito de canela. Mi hija le quitó toda la joyería para evitar que la niña se las coma. Y me envía fotos todo el tiempo de las amigas inseparables.
Today, 3 years later, my joy is different. My daughter has a 14 month old baby girl, she is my only granddaughter and her first doll was Cinnamon Stick. My daughter took all the jewelry off to keep her from eating them. And she sends me pictures all the time of the inseparable friends.
