Positively Yours

It’s been like forever since I dedicated time to watch series, not to even talk of K-dramas. I just got bored with those things but it seems I am back on bullshit again and I kinda love it because trust me, I’ll be seeing more K-dramas henceforth. I think K-dramas are my only option for romance. Their romance stories hook me although they do some ridiculous stuff that is unrealistic and pisses me off so bad, I still enjoy the story line. As for every other movie production company? Yours truly will only rely on them for mind blowing thrillers and action films.

Synopsis

The story follows Jang Hee-won, a woman who has completely sworn off marriage and maybe love after a painful betrayal that stemmed from her upbringing. She’s focused on her career, her independence, and honestly just protecting her peace. But life does that annoying thing where it flips your plans upside down. After a one-night stand with Kang Doo-joon, a rich, calm, almost too-perfect CEO, Hee-won ends up pregnant.

And instead of the usual drama of denial or running away, Doo-joon steps up and wants to take responsibility. He wants to be present and wants a family. What follows is a relationship that grows from something accidental into something intentional, filled with awkward adjustments, and emotional walls.

My Thoughts (aka me getting pulled back into romance against my will)

First of all, let me just say, this drama is built on one of the most unrealistic but addictive tropes ever: accidental pregnancy + ridiculously good man. Like… where are these men in real life? Because this President Doo-joon?? That man was written like a dream someone refused to wake up from. And yet, I ate it up.

What I really liked is how the story doesn’t rush Hee-won’s emotional journey. She’s not suddenly soft and in love because a man showed up to take responsibility for an action they were both involved in. You can feel her hesitation, her fear of being hurt again, and her need to stay guarded. That part felt real. Watching someone slowly unlearn pain and allow themselves to trust again is where the drama actually shines.

Then, there’s the soft, frustrating but worth it romance. The chemistry between Hui-won and Doo-joon is that slow-burn type. A steady, growing, sometimes awkward, sometimes sweet type of love. He’s patient, almost annoyingly so, and she’s constantly trying not to fall too quickly.

But what got me is how the relationship is built on choice rather than just attraction. They’re not just together because of the pregnancy, they keep choosing each other, and that’s what makes it meaningful.

Unto the Unrealistic Bits (because I like honesty. Sure you do too)

Now let’s not pretend this is reality. Because it’s not 😭

A one-night stand turning into that kind of perfect partner?

A Korean CEO who is emotionally available, patient, rich, and not toxic??

Problems that resolve a bit too neatly? Umm, yeah, thanks, very much K-drama logic. But somehow, it still works. Because the emotions, at least on Hee-won’s side, feel solid enough to balance the fantasy.

At its core, this drama is about healing. Letting go of past hurt, allowing yourself to be loved again, and realizing that sometimes life doesn’t follow your carefully planned script and that might not be a bad thing. It’s soft, very comforting. It’s the kind of romance that doesn’t stress you out too much but still keeps you invested. And yeah, I hate to admit it, but I enjoyed it more than I expected.

This was me thinking I was done watching romance. Uggh. This one really pulled me back in with its sweetness, kept me there with its emotional growth, and left me slightly annoyed that real life isn’t written by K-drama writers.

Rating: 7.8/10

PS: it is hilarious how I simply summarized a 12 episode series in just 640 words. Makes it look like there’s no climax whereas there’s a whole lot. Well, yall don’t like spoilers. Such a none issue.
