Night fever

Sickness that comes at night is very dangerous and could claim a life especially if the victim was alone which is why I think it's very necessary that we as humans go for a check up prolly once every month to know the state of our health as the human body is full of surprises and some surprises can bring sorrows. So, to avoid that it's good we all try to see a doctor.

Yesterday, due to heavy rainfall and flooding on the road, I decided to spend the night at my friend's since she insisted I stay over instead of trying to get home and catch a cold by being drenched in the rain plus it was already getting dark.

Into the night, she complained of headache, it came mild at the time of her complaints and we waved it off until the clock hit twelve.

I woke up to her almost going crazy. Her temperature had gone beyond normal and I'm sure if she was put in cold water, the hotness of her body could bring the water to boiling point.

I lost my sanity as I tried everything possible to get her body warm at least, she cried and complained of the headache being at its extreme and I knew she wasn't exaggerating because her head was on fire just from the heat I felt on my skin when I touched it.

I quickly went to Google and searched for natural remedies that could cure headaches. I was given lots of options of which the one I went with was; use of ice and staying in a dark room.

I quickly turned off all the lights and opened the curtains for ventilation. She had no ice in her house but I made use of cold water. I dipped a towel in the water and pressed it on her body which helped a bit to cool down her high temperature.

At this time it was some minutes past 12am and there was going to be no pharmacy open so I had to do everything I could while praying earnestly in my heart that nothing happened to her because if anything had happened to her that night, I'll be a prime suspect and my academics would be on hold as I'll be thrown in jail for something I knew nothing of.

She was unable to sleep and placing my palm on her head I could feel it drumming just like when the heart is palpitating and I was so scared that I cried. The only person I asked for help at that time of the day was God.

We both went through a lot last night; I couldn't sleep neither could she. Pain emanated from different parts of her body, she paced up and down the room crying like a baby and asking me what I'd do if anything happened to her but my faith was at its peak and I believed she was gonna be just fine.

Luckily due to anxiety, I went through her drawer and I found two tabs of Panadol which I immediately administered to her. Few hours later she fell asleep and sweat covered her entire body. I just couldn't sleep again, I stayed up the whole night looking out for her not caring that I had classes very early in the morning.

I'm pretty sure I'll be dozing off in class but it is what it is. What friends do for each other right?

It's very important to check in with our doctors, life is too precious to be lost due to a minor ailment that common drugs would have solved.

Now I can imagine how scared you must have been. You're right when you said would have been a prime suspect. No one would want to hear your side of the story.

I'm glad you were able to thinking smartly which helped to curb the situation at hand. I hope she's good now tho.

Ps: wake up, stop dozing during lectures 😂

It’s a scary situation indeed but the human body is a remarkable machine! It does what it needs to do in order to fight things off. Having cool water around is a good thing and she likely should have been drinking a portion of it as well.

How is she now? Was it the flu?

I didn't think of her drinking it though. I'll have this in mind incase there's a next time. Thank you so much.

She's energetic! It was the flu and it's been treated.

So sorry for the late response, got a lot of shit to tidy offline.
