Meet Tiger, My Little Stripe of Sunshine

It’s been a while since my parents had a pet, and honestly, I wasn’t sure they’d love another after losing the last one. But life has a way of softening us all again, doesn’t it?

A month ago, I bought this tiny kitten from a sweet grandma in the village for myself. She was so little that I could almost cup her in one hand. I wanted to take her with me right away, but I thought of my project work and the long days that followed and knew it was going to be difficult to give her the care she needed then. So, I left her in the safe hands of my parents.

Fast forward to now, I’m this close to submitting the final copies of my project work to my supervisor which will be in two weeks so I took the opportunity to travel over to my parents. It’s a two hour drive from my house to my parents’. I could use the break and change of environment.

Well, when I got back home, my girl came to say hello and I couldn’t believe how much she’s grown! She’s stronger, playful and curious about everything. And the best part? She still has those sharp little eyes that make her look like a tiny tiger cub. That’s how she got her name, Tiger.

She has this funny way of walking around like she owns the place, technically, she does. She swishes her tail as if she’s inspecting her kingdom. She loves curling up in corners, chasing her own shadow and sitting just close enough to watch me work but not really close enough to be touched for too long (she has her moods, trust me).

It’s beautiful how pets, especially cats, seem to understand emotions without a single word. The house feels alive because my mom isn’t even buying the idea of me taking her with me when I’m leaving. She enjoys Tiger’s little meows when she wants attention.

I have so many pictures of her, lounging, posing, even one where she looks like she’s mid-thought (I swear she’s plotting something). I’ll be sharing some here because, honestly, Tiger deserves her own spotlight.
