The End Of An Adventure Filled Journey

Well Hello There Fellow Travelers And Hivers

So where do I start? Oh wait I've already started this story a long time ago! Well I did say in my last post that it's officially the end of our vacation albeit I wasn't exactly lying we just didn't have any amazing adventures planned for the very last day we were by the seaside.

I can't exactly explain the feeling but it's almost like you don't want to do anything because it feels like you're waiting for something? I'm sure most know the feeling of having to leave and go back home after the holiday times.

Well it's that feeling, BUT we have already packed our bags and we were open for the rest of the day so why not go to the beach one last time? And have a nice lunch one last time before we head for home the next day.

The Start Of The End

It was somewhat terrifying to say the least.. Why would I say this? Well I knew that the next morning I would have to jump on the road and head back to where ever the hell I came from. Now I know I drove all the way here but this was the first time I was the driver when going on vacation BUT let's not think too much about that hey xD.

As you can see the day was perfect for going to the beach! Although the wind was somewhat annoying so it wasn't the perfect conditions for swimming in the ocean, the wind causes the Blou Blasies to wash up on the shore. (P.S it's those blue stringy things that stings you, I have absolutely no idea what they are called in english! Perhaps a blue blister??) 😂

Anyway.

We decided on doing things a little different going to the beach that day, usually when we hit the beach we walk down the beach, like we always went left if that makes sense in anyway. Well this time around we decided on going right up the beach to the cliffs and the rocks.

The main reason we did this was because there were less people on that side and a bonus was we actually haven't explored much over on that side so there we went!

See these rock formations? Well they were pretty cool! Although the picture might be very deceiving, these rock formations were not as big as they might seem in the photo. They were actually very small! In the next photo below this one of the Betty you can see a part of this rock formation to the right of her head.

BTW I've got a few cool pictures of that rock formation.

IMG_20230103_165958.jpg

Naturally we found the best spot next to the rock formation I referred to earlier. It provided a wall that shielded us from both the wind and the sun. (Not that I needed to hide from the sun, even after a whole holiday adventure I am still as white as milk. 😂)

The Betty posing nicely for a kiki! Even though she's not fond of it. 😘

Something I Found More Than Interesting

I reckon most would know what that is right? Well for those who have no idea what so ever that is a mussel shell encased in the sand stone.

This isn't at all rare to see, but this means that these shells are very old and still trapped inside the sand. Believe me they've not gone brittle by any means at all. Although they have lost their colour, they are a washed out white, literally. They are normally black you can check it out here.

IMG_20230103_170200.jpg

I know most people won't find this interesting at all in any way. But I do and what fascinates me about it is that I am standing next to something that formed hundreds of years ago (I won't say millions of years because I don't believe the planet is that old.)

Never the less these are very, very old! With that said by the years end when we visit the same spot half of that rock would be washed out and gone and most of those shells would then be exposed to the sunlight and eventually crumble away into sea sand.

Have you ever noticed the small pieces of shell mixed up in between the sea sand?

IMG_20230103_170204.jpg

Oh I almost missed this photo, so earlier in the post I mentioned the "blou blasies" well I found out what the name is in English and it's a "Man O War"

This is probably the tiniest "Man O War" I have ever seen, I wonder if it would give as big of a sting as the grown ones? It might still sting just on less surface area.

Really interesting I had no idea they are born so small, they are probably even smaller when just entering the life phase.

IMG_20230103_170630.jpg

Well we had to leave at one point or another so after spending quite some time on the beach relaxing it out and saying our goodbyes we decided to pack up and head out for something to eat.

What a nice view hey?

Getting Something To Fill The Tummy

The Betty with her camera shyness once again.

Anyways.

After a lengthy decision making process we finally picked a restaurant to eat our final lunch at, a little place which overlooks the ocean (Sadly we weren't able to get a window seat so we had to make due with what we got.) The place is called "Stars" and the Betty actually wanted to drag me there the whole holiday through we just never really got to it until the last day.

IMG_20230105_113429.jpg

Thinking back now I can't even remember which one was mine. Laughs I think the drink on the left and if I remember correctly it was Horlicks.

It was beyond delicious, especially after spending the majority of the day on the beach.

A beer might have went down smoother but AHH it was far too late at that point.

IMG_20230105_113731.jpg

Now I didn't hold back on the lunch, I ordered myself a nice big pizza. I know this is not the roundest pizza you've ever seen but it was more than delicious I'd have to say that!

With that said what the Betty ordered looked a lot more delicious than my pizza!

I asked her now what she ordered that day and she said it was "fa fa fa something" 🤣 the ingredients were tomato smoor mixed in with bacon and topped off with cheese, served with some fancy looking bread.

I don't have much to say about this photo other than the fact that I wont mind having this in my house.

For what reason I do not know it just looks cool doesn't it. Knowing where the coffee growing regions of the world are.

Here's A Few More Cool Photos!

I didn't really want to pollute the actual post with too many photos but I did want to add them into the post as well, so I added them in their own little section. It's nothing special just more of what you've seen through the post.

Enjoy.

Hey there! Sorry for the heavy belated reply😂😂

Well the beach itself is called "second beach" but the area we were in is called "Dana Bay" so that is one of the beaches in the bay!

The place we ate at was somewhat inland, not far but it was in MosselBay. Just next to DanaBay
