THANH HA TERRACOTTA PARK - FIRST TRIP OF THE YEAR, 2022

Hello Hiver friends πŸ€—
How are you today? Welcome to my post.

Today, I would like to introduce everyone to a destination that inspires those who enjoy exploring and learning new things. The location I'd like to highlight is Thanh Ha Pottery Village, also known as Thanh Ha Terracotta Park. I did this trip by myself last Sunday because while I was surfing Instagram I discovered this interesting place. At that point, I prepared and dashed to the terracotta park. And I had no idea that the journey would be the most fateful of my life. After my trip, I tested positive for COVID-19. For the past four days, I've been friends with four walls. This is very bad news for me and my family.😭 My mother took care of me all these days. But hold on. Let's set this aside for when I have some free time, and I'll share it with everyone later. Now I will concentrate on introducing everyone to the world of terracotta. πŸ˜‹

Where is the Thanh Ha Terracotta?

Thanh Ha Pottery Village is about 3 kilometers west of Hoi An on the romantic Thu Bon River. As a historical witness, the pottery village witnessed the ups and downs of the people who lived here. Thanh Ha Pottery Village is one of the traditional craft villages more than 500 years old. The pottery village also experienced a period of brilliant development, from the 16th to 17th centuries, when the Nguyen Dynasty opened its doors to foreign trade, resulting in the creation of Hoi An, a famous bustling port in Southeast Asia.

To enter the terracotta park, you must purchase a ticket at the ticket counter located directly in front of the entrance. The ticket counter is made of red bricks that are stacked to form the openings of the ticket counter. The following are the fares: Each adult ticket costs 50,000 VND, and each child ticket costs 30,000 VND. To help you plan your visit, the tour guide will give you a leaflet about the terracotta park and show you each area. They are very friendly and enthusiastic, so you don't have to worry and can relax and enjoy your trip.

Terracotta Park is divided into nine sightseeing areas. The following are listed in the following order:

  • Installation Garden
  • Exhibition (1st floor)
  • Traditional Pottery Villages (2nd floor)
  • Sa Huynh - Champa terracotta (3rd floor)
  • Thanh Ha world square
  • Thanh Ha terracotta market
  • Thanh Ha terracotta museum
  • Camps for production and experience
  • Terracotta oven

The first is an installation garden, which is designed and built in the park's center and is very eye-catching and trendy. Between the two museums and the miniature world area is a lake. There is a wooden bridge that crosses the lake in the middle. In the middle is a lake surrounding the stage - the symbol for the computer table. A wooden bridge crosses the world for the ancients to take advantage of the power of water, connect into arrays and move back to the pottery village. At this location, you can walk on it and take very poetic photos.

The miniature world area is located to the left of the installation garden. You will not be able to miss any famous or traditional symbols from many countries around the world in this area. You can tell which country it is just by mentioning the name of the icon. These miniature works were created by the skilled hands of terracotta artists.

The structure on the right is the "upside kiln," where Thanh Ha ceramic products are displayed and exhibited, as well as those from other craft villages such as Bat Trang, Phu Lang, Vinh Long, and others. Integrating with the outside world, with the meaning of learning.

The exhibition area is divided into three floors, each of which displays works as well as antique terracotta products. A terracotta statue of a woman's body was erected in the center of the first floor. This statue captivated me. It's flawless and enchantingly beautiful.

The main building is located in the center of the park. These two structures are connected by a corridor that represents the continuation of tradition into the modern world. This is a display of traditional terracotta craft village objects, as well as the sale of terracotta products. There are numerous items for sale, and they are both diverse and eye-catching. You have a lot of options.

Production areas and kilns are hidden behind the high-rise terracotta structures. Here you can experiment with making your own products such as bottles, cups, and flowerpots. However, you must pay 30000 VND for a single experience. The artisans will assist you with everything from clay preparation to shaping. The next step is to decorate your products however you see fit. Finally, the finished product is baked. It may take 10 to 15 minutes; in the meantime, you may wish to tour the areas surrounding the production site. There are numerous interesting locations to help you shine in photographs.

I admire the artisans who make pottery because they have created extremely beautiful works out of ordinary clay with skillful and meticulous hands.
