Kopi Sanger, Ifumie And Roti Cane

Hello guys....

How are you all? I hope you are all well and always happy. Back again to meet me, nice to meet you all. I'm back with my story of visiting a cafe to try delicious food and drinks.

This time I came to Hijrah Kupie, Kupie is another name for a cafe, and usually if it is called Kupie then it is known as an Acehnese cafe, because usually the owner is an Acehnese person and they also sell various kinds of food and drinks that are famous from Aceh.

And like most Kupie restaurants, they're always outdoors, with a covered roof. There's a lot of smoking here, so I'm usually uncomfortable staying here for long. However, the food is delicious, so I'll keep coming back.

While there's a lot of Acehnese food here, they also sell a variety of other foods and drinks. They sell Bangladeshi noodles, a very famous Medan specialty, as well as ifumie, hun noodles, rice with chicken and fish, fried rice, and various snacks. They also serve a variety of coffees, soft drinks, tea, Milo, and milk.

Kopi Sanger

Sanger coffee is a traditional Acehnese drink made from black coffee, sweetened condensed milk, and a little sugar. The coffee is typically brewed using a conical cloth strainer, then mixed with milk, and then shaken or poured from a height to create a soft foam on top. (Source: Wikipedia)

There are two options for Sanger coffee: hot and cold. Of course, I ordered the cold one. The coffee tastes delicious, fragrant, sweet, and bitter. Acehnese coffee has its own unique, delicious flavor. They use sweetened condensed milk, but not too much, so the sweetness doesn't dominate; it blends perfectly with the coffee flavor.

Ifumie And Roti Cane

For the food, I ordered Ifumie and roti cane. The fried ifumie made here is also delicious, even though this is not a typical Acehnese food, they use spices that are usually only found in Acehnese kupie like this. The savory and spicy taste is delicious, the ifumie is well cooked. With a portion that is enough for one person.

Roti cane (or roti canai/roti maryam) is a layered flatbread with influences from Indian, Middle Eastern, and Malay cuisine. In Indonesia, it is typically served as a sweet snack topped with sugar, condensed milk, and cheese, or enjoyed savory with curry sauce. (Source: Wikipedia)

While roti cane isn't a typical Acehnese dish, it's a staple in every Acehnese restaurant. The roti cane at Hijrah Kupie is cooked a little drier than usual and cut into smaller pieces, making it easier to eat. The sprinkling of sugar makes it incredibly delicious.

And somehow I always feel that roti cane is very suitable to be eaten together with drinking sanger coffee. A perfect combination.

Okay, that's my activity this time. A short activity that wasn't actually planned, I even only wore a jacket and didn't wear any makeup at all.

Thank you for reading my story, see you in my story next time~
