5 Minute Freewrite: in my line of sight

I've got poetry on the brain, as I look through what's available to me on this computer of my poetry, to see what I can put together as a writing sample when I apply for a poetry MFA from Cal State Long Beach. I looked at my 'pocalypse poetry from way back when! I'm sure I couldn't use it all, I'm sure what what I would want to use could use some revision, but I think I like it? How the hell will I know what a selection committee would like? What are they looking for? What shows promise?

In my line of sight. A poetry MFA is in my line of sight. But what do they want? Presumably more people than they can accept have that poetry MFA in their line of sight. I assume. I'm sure I can look up that data. How many applicants, how many acceptances. I'm so sure that so many things are possible, but often so many things that I'm sure are possible and feel like they should be easy are actually hard or if not hard, time-consuming. Like it feels like it takes me longer to find the answer than it should. The answer should be easily found. I'm not really talking about the acceptance rate of the MFA program anymore, now I'm thinking about work stuff and how I feel like I should have answers more readily at my brain tip. Here's the thing, do I want to be writing grants and grant reports? Or would I rather just be reading and writing whatever the hell I want to read and write? I wish I were independently wealthy and could just read whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, could just write whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I think the timer was not audible.
