Bende bugün hala cumartesi olduğundan dolayı topluluğun yaptığı bu etkinliğe katılabileceğimi düşündüm. Umarım bu gönderi lokal saatler dikkate alınarak değerlendirilir :)
Şaka bir yana benim etkinliğe göndereceğim resimler gittiğim bir Küba restoranından gelecek. Bu fotoğraf ve yorumların çıkış noktası olan son gezimin yazisini henuz yazamadım ama yakında onu da aradan çıkarırım diye düşünüyorum.
Geçtiğimiz haftasonu Miami'ye gidebilme imkanı buldum ve haliyle oranın en meşhur mahalleleri arasında yer alan Little Havana'ya da uğramayı eksik etmedim. Adeta bir portaldan geçmişcesine Amerikadan Kübaya ışınlandığınız bu ufak bir o kadar da şirin mahallede birçok restoran, eğlence mekanı, kafe, bar ve inanmazsınız ama horoz (gerçek ve heykel olarak) yer alıyor.

Since today is still Saturday for me, I thought I could participate in this community event. I hope this post will be considered with local times in mind :)
Jokes aside, the pictures I will send to the event are from a Cuban restaurant I visited. I haven't written the article about my last trip, which is the starting point for this photo and comments, but I think I'll get it done soon.
Last weekend, I had the chance to visit Miami, and of course, I made sure to stop by Little Havana, one of its most famous neighborhoods. As if you've stepped through a portal from America to Cuba, this small yet charming neighborhood is filled with restaurants, entertainment venues, cafes, bars, and believe it or not, roosters (both real and statues).
Arkadaşımla bu sokaklarda volta atarken karnımız acıktı ve kendisi benim zevkime çok güvendiğinden (ya da şöyle de diyebiliriz, kendisi çok üşengeç olduğundan)dolayı benim yemek yemek için bir yer bulmamı istedi. Ben de yahu ne yesek ki diye düşünürken bir önceki Miami ziyaretimde de uğradığım Old Havana adlı restorana gidebileceğimizi söyledim ona. Bana her yer paris kafasında olan arkadaşım bu teklifi anında kabul etti ve Mayıs ayında olsak bile kavurucu sıcağın bizleri okşadığı Little Havana caddelerinde bir sonraki durağımıza doğru yelken açtık.
As my friend and I were wandering the streets and got hungry, she trusted my taste completely (or rather, she was too lazy to choose), so she asked me to pick a place to eat. Thinking about what to eat, I suggested we could go to Old Havana, a restaurant I had visited on my previous trip to Miami. My friend, who is always up for anything, immediately agreed, and even in the heat of May, we set sail towards our next stop on the streets of Little Havana.
Menü - Menu
Kağıt menülerden çok haz almadığım için menünün plastikle kaplanmış olması beni memnun etti. Biraz eski bir gazeteyi andıran menümüzde klasik Küba sandviçleri, tavuk ve et yemeklerinin yanında deniz ürünlerini de bulmak mümkün. Kübaya özgü içeceklerin de yer aldığı menüden kendimiz fırında tavuk ve etli sandviç söyledik. Tavuğun yanında fasulye ve pilav da geliyormuş, içecek olarak da araba kullancağımız için kola söyleyiverdik.
I'm not a fan of paper menus, so I was pleased to see that the menu was covered in plastic. Our menu, reminiscent of an old newspaper, featured classic Cuban sandwiches, chicken and meat dishes, and seafood options. From the menu, which also included Cuban drinks, we ordered baked chicken and a meat sandwich. The chicken came with beans and rice, and since I would be driving, we opted for cola as our drink.
Yemek - Food
Öncelikle gelen tavuğun resmini paylaşayım. Resmin sol tarafında tavuk kardeşimizi görürken yanına üvey evlat gibi yerleştirilmiş pilavla da göz göze gelmeniz mümkün. Soğan denizi altında kalmış tavuğumuza eşlik eden fasulye (siyah olan) yukarda suyun yaninda gözlerimize ilişiyor. Kolamız da gelmiş resim çekildiğinde. Yemeğe tavukla başladık. Gerçekten çok iyi pişmişti fakat nedense ısı olarak istediğimiz sıcaklıkta gelmedi. Sanırım sandviçin yapımında bi aksaklık yaşandı ve tavuk tezgahta bir süre bekledi. [7/10]
First, let me share a photo of the chicken we ordered. On the left side of the photo, you can see our 'chicken friend,' and next to it, almost like a stepchild, you can spot the rice. Under a sea of onions, there's also the black beans, which catch your eye next to the water. Our cola had arrived by the time we took the photo. We started the meal with the chicken. It was really well-cooked, but for some reason, it wasn't as hot as we would have liked. I think there might have been a delay in preparing the sandwich, causing the chicken to sit on the counter for a while. [7/10]
Gelelim sandviçimize. Etli sandviçin sunumu gözlerimi kamaştırdı adeta. Üzerine ufak patates kızartmasını andıran cipsler koymuşlar ve kendisi bir hayli büyük. Hatta o kadar büyük ki kalkıp yer vermek istedim. Açıkcası tavuğa göre daha sıcaktı fakat et biraz kuru olmuş. Lezzetinde bir eksiklik görmedim ama. Ben de biraz fazla eleştirdim sanırım. [9/10]
Now let's talk about our sandwich. The presentation of the meat sandwich was dazzling. It came topped with chips that resembled small fries, and it was quite large. In fact, it was so large that it almost demanded its own seat. Honestly, it was warmer than the chicken, although the meat was a bit dry. However, I didn't find any lack in flavor. Maybe I'm being a bit too critical. [9/10]
Sanırım toplamda 32 dolar tuttu yemek. Bahşiş ve vergiyle yaklaşık 40 dolar bıraktık. Ortalama üzeri bir fiyat olsa da gelen yemeğin oranı ve kalitesinden dolayı fiyat performans aralığını 10 üzerinden 8 olarak değerlendiriyorum.
The total cost of the meal came to about $32. With tip and tax, we ended up spending around $40. Although it's a bit above average in terms of price, considering the quantity and quality of the food, I'd rate the price-performance ratio as 8 out of 10.
İç Dizayn - Interior Design
Mekanın girişi caddenin de ön tarafa bakmasından dolayı bir hayli kalabalık. Girer girmez sol tarafınızda bar yer alıyor. Barımız çok şık olan Coca Cola avizeleriyle ışıklandırılmış.
The entrance of the venue is quite busy due to its front-facing position on the street. As soon as you enter, the bar is on your left side. Our bar is elegantly illuminated by chic Coca-Cola chandeliers.
Little Havananın ön caddesine bakan girişin hemen yanında da birkaç masa sandalye görülüyor. Loş ışıklarla süslenmiş restoran içerisinde birçok Kübaya özgü eşya görmek mümkün. Aşağıdaki resmin sağ tarafında da garsonumuz olan Gabrielayı göreceksiniz. Kendisi çok sempatikti ve bizlere iyi davrandı. Alkol almadık diye biraz yüzü düştü ama bizim bulaşıcı neşemiz onun enerjisiyle birleşince yemeğin lezzetinden çok bu hatıranın lezzeti kaldı akıllarda.
At the entrance facing the main street of Little Havana, you can see a few tables and chairs set up beside the door. The restaurant is decorated with dim lighting and is filled with many items that are distinctive to Cuban culture. On the right side of the picture below, you'll see our waitress, Gabriela. She was very friendly and treated us well. She seemed a bit disappointed that we didn't order alcohol, but our infectious joy combined with her energy made the experience more memorable than the flavor of the meal itself.
Yukarıda gördüğünüz resme sırtınızı verdiğinizde ise avluya çıkan bir kapı olduğunu görüyorsunuz. Loş ışıklı mekan içersinde dizaynın nasıl değiştiğini aşağıda paylaştığım fotoğrafta göreceksiniz. Avlusu olduğunu bu ziyaretimde öğrenmem de gerçekten enteresan oldu. Bir önceki geldiğimde hiç avlu olduğunu hatırlamıyorum.
When you turn your back to what you see in the image above, you'll notice a door leading to a courtyard. You'll see how the design changes within the dimly lit venue in the photo I've shared below. Learning that there was a courtyard during this visit was truly intriguing; I don't recall there being one the last time I was here.
Avlu - Backyard
Yemeği yedikten sonra avlu nasılmış diye bakmaya kalktım. Bir önceki resimde gördüğünüz kapıdan geçerek çıkılıyor arka bahçeye. Türkiyedeki mekanların bahçemiz vardır yazısını buraya da koymak lazım. Nerden bilebilirdim bu kapının başka bir yere açılacağını :)
After we finished our meal, I decided to check out the courtyard. You exit to the backyard through the door shown in the previous picture. They really should put up a sign like the ones in Turkey that say "We have a garden," because how was I to know this door would lead somewhere else! :)
Üstü kapalı olan tarafı geçtiğinizde sizleri çok hoş bir bahçe karşılıyor. İçerde sıkış tıkış yemek yedikten sonra burayı görmek üzücü oldu. Ferah ferah oturabileceğimiz bu bahçeyi de deneyimlemek artık bir sonraki ziyaretime kaldı diyebiliriz.
Once you pass through the covered area, you're greeted by a very charming garden. It was a bit disappointing to discover this space only after we had dined inside in a more cramped setting. Enjoying this airy, open garden will have to wait until my next visit.
