Is it worth watching?

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Glen Powell does a solid job in the lead role and brings the internal tension the character requires.
  • The pacing is relentless, especially once the game begins.
  • Josh Brolin and Colman Domingo are always welcome additions to any cast.
  • The film keeps its anti-capitalist allegory front and center.
  • Action-driven storytelling with plenty of momentum.
  • Well-crafted production values.
  • Strong editing throughout.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • It could have benefited from a shorter runtime.
  • It never really felt like an Edgar Wright film to me. I didn't sense much of his signature style.
  • The themes felt a bit dated at times. What? No?
  • It's not particularly original and follows fairly safe narrative paths.
  • Excessive in certain moments.
  • Stereotypical characters.

Tron: Ares

An advanced program known as Ares is sent from the digital world into the real one on a dangerous mission, marking humanity's first contact with artificial intelligence entities.

Is it worth watching?

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Jared Leto has an otherworldly, almost perfect look that fits the world of Tron like a glove.
  • The highly relevant topic of artificial intelligence is front and center here as well.
  • Impressive visual effects.
  • The score by Nine Inch Nails is strong, with an industrial, underground feel, although I personally preferred Daft Punk's work on the previous film.
  • Confident and solid direction.
  • The highway chase sequence is visually spectacular.
  • Greta Lee shows a lot of promise and brings genuine warmth to her role.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • The screenplay is very weak, and that's what stands out the most to the viewer.
  • The visual effects are impressive, but the film doesn't bring anything innovative enough to make it truly memorable.
  • It takes a philosophical direction that didn't really work for me.
  • There are moments where the pacing noticeably drags.
  • Predictable.
  • The emotional side of the story feels flat.
  • The villains are one-dimensional.

Running Man is a great Story by early Stephen King. The Film doesn‘t catch up to that it seems.
