Conversation with a public servant

As I have written in previous posts, I am making some energy upgrades in my house. However, an accident occurred when I was changing the doors, resulting in a hole in the main electrical power line cable. This has led to my new floor having electrical currents that can potentially electrocute a person. I immediately contacted the electrical company responsible for managing the grid in the entire country, requesting them to install a new cable and disconnect the old one to prevent electricity from passing through the door. Unfortunately, the workers there are public servants who cannot be fired. Despite my attempts to have them fix the issue for the past 5 days, the following conversation took place this morning, which left me infuriated:

I made a call to the central Athens office and reported the damage. The workshop instructed me to make some holes to facilitate the cable replacement, which I did. Since then, I have been waiting for the repair to be carried out.

I expressed my concern that someone could die due to the hazardous situation and emphasized the urgency of having a contractor dispatched immediately.

Then, an employee from my city called me.

"Well, you called again," he told me. "I explained to you that it was assigned to a contractor. Please be patient."

I retorted, "If someone gets electrocuted and dies, who will I turn to? Will it be you?" The employee remained silent.

"Sir, please exercise patience. I have a code that I dial and the contractor gets notified, thats all i can do”

"I will be patient," I replied, "but I will contact you every day. Even if it doesn't speed up the process, I can't do anything else

Fuck those workers that are such lazy persons that dont even care !

Public workers are very insensitive. This is a matter og urgency, as it concerns life and death situations. I think these are the type of cases they should be prioritizing. Their bosses might just be the same even if you end up reporting them to someone above them.

Well they don't have to be afraid of getting fired because it's a really difficult situation to fire a public servant so they just trying to work less

Wow, that is odd, so majorly these guys have terrible attitude to work because they know that it's basically difficult to take the job away from them.

Assuming it's a private company or workers managing the power grid I bet they would've been more approachable and would've fixed the power line cable by now.

I think it's how public workers like to act these days due to either their complacent behaviour about having low pay or another type of excuse for not liking their job.

In most cases people don't work for their passion anymore instead, they work for money and that influence how they perform in every aspect of life.

Hopefully, they can help you get it fixed before any living creature gets electrocuted.

If it was private they would have already change the wire because of the fear of anyone getting electrocuted and me suing them !
