WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS || MY DEEP THOUGHTS

The quote: We Rise By Lifting Others was said by the author Robert Ingersoll and I must say, it is my best quote (the quote I love the most) and what I have lived my life following.

People have different perspectives and making of that quote (I think so) but not everyone believes in the quote.

I have encountered people saying; when you make it, make yourself scarce and change those who surround you because as you have gone to the top, you would drop while trying to lift them up.

A random black and white picture of me

The truth is, it’s never really like that. From my view, life is like a ladder. As we grow and continue to develop, that means we are going each step higher on the ladder. People rise faster than each other. Everyone has different work rate, so we all cannot climb the ladder at the same pace. Some would be extremely slow at it, and some may just need someone to mentor them all the way to the top.

So, as we climber further up the ladder, there are tendency we are going to fall. In life, it is normal to drop or fall while trying to attempt greater heights. Some think they cannot fall and would always remain at the top but things may come unexpectedly that they don’t remain the number one as they have always been.

For instance, blackberry and windows phones used to have more popularity (in my country) than android but, where are they now. People now prefer the Apple devices or a Samsung device.

Back to my explanation of life as a ladder. As we go higher up the ladder, there are tendency we would fall mostly because many people who are trying to go up that same ladder would want to push us down so they can be on top.

Now, if we want to have a strong ground as we rise and a lesser tendency of dropping (falling) really hard, that is when the true meaning of the quote, we rise by lifting others, comes in.

What meaning do I see in the quote?

As we rise, we should learn to lift up those around us. Leaving them behind is never a good thing, so we need to mentor them, encourage, guide, give advice and do everything you can to increase their work rate as you rise up the ladder of life.

Some, may just need a simple source of inspiration or motivation. You should be that source they are looking for. Don’t look at it that they may slow you down from rising up the ladder but look at it as they being your landing bed if you may fall.

Truth be told, lifting people as you rise is just as if you are making a safe landing spot if you may fall as you go up because, if you fall, they would be the one to hold you from having a greater or harder drop down the ground.

Some people who may have gone so high the ladder and fallen down the ladder to ground zero may find it very difficult to climb the ladder up to the stage they were or may take them years to attain that same spot they have lost.

But, when you have people who you rose as you have risen up the ladder, your fall would not be as great as those who felt helping people rise up the ladder would only slow them down; these kinds of people would fall greatly.

Life isn’t that complex at all, we all need ourselves to grow. No man is an Island and can never do all things on his own.

Though, it is necessary to know we cannot help everybody but what of those that are closed to you. Have they started seeing the benefit of having you in their life? Think about it.

Feel free to share your thoughts on this quote and also what you think about what I have written. Thank you 🤗😇

You have spoken well.
Some people feel going up the social ladder should also mean cutting themselves off of their immediate circle of friends. They abandon their old folks and go looking for new ones in their "level".
Those kinds of people often times end their life lonely with no real friends around them.

If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far.. I believe we all know the rest.

Word!!!! You hit me with this sentence you have made.

If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far.. I believe we all know the rest.

True going up the social ladder does not really mean one have to cut off from the friends they have. It is always good to carry them along and not see them to be inferior or low class to us.

Hope to see you in school today bro!

Germany Kent once said:
“Be nice to people... maybe it'll be unappreciated, unreciprocated, or ignored, but spread the love anyway. We rise by lifting others.”

A very inspiring post. Keep the good work up man

If I had the opportunity to give back, I wouldn't hesitate. Lifting others has always been a major part of my life, why? Because I believe everyone deserves a good chance at life. But then life has a way of doing its thing 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, it's understandable that not everyone can give back but we should try to help others in any way we can. It doesn't have to be in monetary form.

This should be the motto of Hive. Actually, I believe it is for many people here. Or the spirit of it if not the exact words.

Wait a minute... It should be the motto of the entire world!
