VENTURING INTO WEB DEVELOPMENT || BUILDING MY FIRST PORTFOLIO WEBSITE

avatar
(Edited)

I have always wanted to own a computer skill and never knew where and when to start but this time, I took a big move a month ago. I started learning Frontend Development and building my skill in HTML and CSS. At first, it was not easy, my brain was scattered, and pushing myself to keep studying while having other stuff doing was hard.

Now I am getting to understand things better, getting to enjoy watching tutorials, and spending time studying and coding. I am not perfect or good to any degree yet but to a pretty much beginner level, I can say I am doing well.

I just have to keep motivating myself since the only way to move forward here is by motivation. There have been some times that I have felt down and really angry at myself for not understanding a thing or two and during those times, I felt like giving up but you know what, they gave me sleepless nights. I am always thinking about it and standing up from bed in the middle of the night towards my computer to watch a tutorial or try a code.

One of the reasons why I have been pretty much inactive off Hive, asides from being sick these past few weeks, is that I have been spending a lot of time learning how to code. Right now, I am building my first portfolio website and I would love to share some images.

Although a portfolio website does not have a login or register page, I just had to do it so I can learn how to style my page alongside. What I still have left to learn is how to make this page I built responsive on all media devices. Although I made use of flexbox for most of them, so we can say they are a bit responsive but there still need some things that have to be done.

My coming blog, I would be sharing how I made my navigation bar and some of the things I did here. I would be explaining them on my blog and mostly in this community. I need a place to keep my thoughts and findings I believe blogging about them would make them stick to my head and also document them as well.

If you want to view this drawing on your PC, then you can find it here: https://myportfolio.emmanuelpopoola.repl.co

Note: It would not have a great view if viewed from a mobile device. I am yet to make it responsive to mobile device. Also do not mind the border line, I have removed it if you check from the link above.

Yeah exactly... That's what I meant about it being responsive. I am still learning, I would get better at it...

Just documenting my learning process.

Oh wow... building a website without code was fun for me but I'm scared of coding mehn

You did a good job for a first timer. Well done!

Lol... Yeah it's more easier without a code. If you see my code editor, its scary 😅😂..

Wow, you sure do have one unique talent and that is always wanting to learn more and I really love that about you. The part of you always feeling discouraged when you don't get things right is fine because it makes you want to get it done, I don't know if you understand.

Like someone once said that success is not a destination, it's a journey and in your journey you are bound to get to hurdles so don't worry its a matter of time before you pass those hurdles.

I believe now that you want to blog about it, it will help you easily understand and remember things, I know time is not our friend but always try to have fun with what you are doing, it will help take away anxiety.

So sad I don't have a PC to check out that link so make sure to get a link for mobile phones soon ☺️.

How is your health by the way, hope you are getting better?

Yeah I understand that, the beginning is always tough especially when it comes to coding. A lot of time and data would be spent.

You can click on the link and then select desktop view on your browser to see it.

About my health, I am pushing it. We thank God.

Cool one buddy you're doing great I think you have gotten most parts of the HTML Codding and now work with the styles sheets. I must say you do have a very brilliant start compared to some beginners.
I started my journey in web designing over 3 years ago and just took a brake for a while till now I've not resumed, But hopefully I'll go back in.

This was because I only make use of chrome interface to look into my html code previews and make necessary corrections while they were no web platforms for me to publish my codes directly without paying some amount of fees to the domain. you only creat your web from an already prepared template which is the best to make your web look professional to some extent but NO, I needed my own code to be published 😅.

Hopefully I'll have my hands back there although I know it's really time consuming and you'll have to quit some other hobbies to focus on web design and development and you are already doing great 👍

but please I want to beg you

If you are seeing this, I believe you must have seen id did ihid dhgidhidhgiddihdihgi di did

Please I only clicked on a link, i didn't did anything 😂😂💔💔 thank you!

Ah! Thank you very much!

You can use Nestlify to publish your code without a domain too.

Yeah, it's time consuming but I love it and would love to use it to solve problems in the future. The money involved is the motivating part of it.

Okay thank you so much I'll be trying that out as soon as I'm free to. But I also noticed if you are used to it you also get addicted to it as well.

Niceeee. Maybe I could design stuff and you build? How can I create a portfolio website though? Do I have to pay for a domain name and all that?
