Sesks leads ERC Rally Liepaja 2022 after day one

Hi, friends!

Local Latvian guy Martins Sesks is in control of ERC Rally Liepaja after day one and after he won every single special stage.

I expected a big battle between two Spaniards who lead the championship - Efren Llarena and Nil Solans and it was a battle until the last special stage of a day where Solans had a puncture and lost almost a minute in process.

Efren Llarena is now in 2nd position overall with MRF tyres on his Škoda Fabia Rally2, the same car as from Martins Sesks but Sesks is on Pirelli rubber.

Junior World Rally champion from season 2020 Tom Kristensson is in 3rd position with another string of good drives, but that was to expect from Junior champions. Just to remind you that Kristensson and Solans are ex-JWRC champions while Llarena is ex-Junior ERC champion.

New Zealander Hayden Paddon had a nice drive in completely new Hyundai i20 Rally2 but had a visit to the ditch where he lost a lot of time after he couldn't restart his car.

Tomorrow is another full day of action and it seems that European Rally Championship becomes better from rally to rally. Great stuff!
