Oliver Solberg to drive Hyundai WRC machinery at Rally Monza 2021

Hi, friends!

It seems that Hyundai's youngest signing and son of WRC 2003 champion Petter, Oliver Solberg has a full faith of his employers because they are giving him a chance after chance and he doesn't have some super results this season.

OK, to be honest, he did better in a WRC machinery then in WRC2 car and that's because their Hyundai i20 Rally2 car is still not on the same level as their competition, especially Škoda, so he must push more and then comes overdrive and the crash as a result of that.

I think that there is less pressure on him when he drives a WRC car then in WRC2 car where he must show his potential and probably win. When he drives WRC car, no one expect from him to be a leader. People think that if he will be in top 8 that it would be a pretty descent result which is true.

There is another thing that helps him a lot and that is a fact that he drives for Hyundai's satellite team called 2C Competition from France. They don't run the latest evolution of that i20 WRC car. Their cars are probably 2019 cars. That's even less stress for young Oliver because that way who could even think that he should finish on the podium (yeah, he wants that very much).

In my opinion, he just have to drive and the rest will come - speed and consistency. After another shot with WRC car in Catalunya Spain, he just got another chance and I am talking about the last WRC event of the season in Monza.

I guess that he will give his maximum there to shine even his prime goal is to finish the rally. I don't understand why they didn't take experienced co-driver Seb Marshall to be his navigator after they fired Aaron Johnston from the right seat.

Oliver Solberg probably has very bright future in the World Rally Championship and a great mentor in his dad Petter so there is no need to rush too much but that's young blood full of need for speed...
