Sagardi ♨️ Touted as the Best - Restaurant Review

SAGARDI

A stone's throw from Plaza Dorrego, this is a treat I was not expecting.

Humberto Primo 319, Buenos Aires, +54 11 4361 2538

I had been here before in the front room, where you will find French bread with various toppings which are like appetizers charged per. But I had driven by here many times after eating. I saw the coals burning and knew they had some other meals to be had.

I was searching for grilled meat tonight, and I got a table right at the grill in order to get what I was after. Photo: Steaks, three inches thick weighing in at between 2-3 pounds. They are "Aged Beef" on the menu.

We ordered one that was 1.1 kilos (2.45lbs) to split. They let it cook for twenty minutes, then flipped it and coated it with coarse salt to finish cooking.

They left the serving plates on there so long, I thought they would melt or turn red hot. Turns out it was a great strategy because it kept the meat hot as we worked our way through it all. If the meat was a bit too red, you could flip it a couple of times and finish cooking it. It did not need that though.

The final product was cut into half inch slices of steak and served to be shared, in this case, between me and my son.

The meat was served with fried potato wedges - lightly topped with chives. To our left, we had an overview of all that went on at the grill, and to the right was the front room. (below)

There is seating inside and out along the cobblestone streets across from the historic Church of San Telmo. We had rain tonight, so we sat at the window.

Here are some other shots of dishes

Ones we have not had yet, but will upon return.

The preparation of pork tenderloin with glazed apples...

We also saw white salmon dishes, octopus, and a fish platter that had to be shared due to its size.

All photos taken from our seat at the grill. Bill: AR$ 8000 with tip. ($37.00)

About double what two people would pay for dinner in BsAs.

If I had to express a negative, I would warn you that the grill does not heat up at dinner time. You will not be putting a fork to mouth until nearly nine o'clock at night. I forgot to eat- ended up here.
