Flash Back to Beach Nuts 🍽 Part Six

I cannot leave out the iconic El Molino -The Windmill - from this series

Rolled Milanesa pictured.

My youngest is a connoisseur of milanesa, so he ordered the football shaped entrée to test it using his expertise.

We had already had our bread with pickled egg plant appetizer - they are known for causing portion overdose to all their customers.

Located one block from the ocean side drive, this place is a must on anyone's trip to the beach towns.

They have indoor or outdoor dining and they are always full from 7:00 p.m. till midnight no matter the day of the week.

We ate there three out of the five evenings that we were in town. Here are a few more sights and reasons as to why we would do that.

I had steak and onions. I remember wondering what the donut-shaped things were - they are whole onions, deep fried (I believe).

Most everything comes with some sort of gravy. Mine came with rice and a generous helping of waffle fries. These are not small plates.

I really like onions but could not finish all of them. Remember me talking about food overdose syndrome? I had torn into mine before I was reminded to take a photo of it. Oops.

This one is my middle child at age fourteen. He was surfing all day and had a the urge to scarf down mass quantities, which is what he ordered. I think that was a whole chicken. It is hard to tell under all those mushrooms, but he had no difficulty making short work of it.

We eat earlier than most people. For us, dinner is at six or seven o'clock. The norm in the city is doors open at eight, no chance of eating until eight-thirty. But this is not the city, the sun season is short and the restaurants try to open while it is still light in order to catch late lunchers and people from other cultures who eat at normal times.

If you arrive at El Molino around eight, you will have to wait in line. They have about twenty tables inside and another eight or so outside, but there is no room to expand. If I had to wait, I would. This place is worth it.

I will leave you with the smallest plate which was the rolled chicken milanesa. He usually orders a milanesa dinner which overhangs the plate. I have a picture of it from another trip and it is amazing. He prides himself on being able to eat everything and he usually does.

Incidentally, the look on his face in the cover photo shows his love for peas. He was not happy about them being on his plate, so I removed them for him. That's kids for you.

I may have one more for you - possibly a mix of things from vacation time.
