First Post Dempanic Visit to FooWang!

Anyone Read Korean?

It has been about four years since my last post on this wonderful little bridge in the food gap. Located in Once, this is Super Foo Wang where you can get things like peanut butter, pretzels, and jerky.

I think we have mint and chocolate tube shaped cookies on the left. Maybe Blueberry cheesecake flavored cookies on the right. Either way, they will be awesome.

I feel like a four year old kid in a candy store or maybe any kind of store. I have to shop by pictures. You see, I don't read any Asian languages, but I like a variety in my daily diet.

It is hard to find anything grape flavored in Argentina - even the wine is not grape flavored. So when I see the possibility of a grape chewy candy, I grab it. The instructions are simple just chew.

Speaking of chewing, there is one thing I have not learned how to make here - beef jerky. So I have to find it somewhere and FooWang always has it. I am not familiar with the Paleo flavor but I got a couple anyway.

It looks like it has sunflower seeds in the mix - so we'll see what that tastes like.

As long as we are talking about meat that can be stored in a drawer, I also got some chicken gizzards, they appear to be spicy.

I have never had the poultry dried meat products. I am forcing myself to try them for the first time.

Inside this packages are several silver vacuum sealed envelops which contain one gizzard each? I still have not gotten up the nerve to try one.

The last photo is an Argentine product that none of the stores carry, so I buy it here. I like it because it breaks the health rules! I can overdo the calories and the salt limits that the government has placed on us. Just my style.

I also got some medium size cucumbers because I am out of pickles. I spent the afternoon boiling jars and mixing my pickle juice concoction and the jars are already done. This is the only store that sells cucumbers that do not have huge seeds that you cannot, there is that word again, CHEW. You see, the veggie dealers here want to sell things that make the numbers on their scale go higher. That is more important that actually being able to eat the products.

Aside from that, this is the only place you can get large shrimp, shellfish, crab, and really fresh (I mean alive 3 minutes ago) fish. So I got some salmon. If you read my posts all the time, you may have seen the one where I made sushi with the kids. You have to have really fresh fish for that to be a safe endeavor.

What was missing is all the soda flavors. There are serious issues with importing things. Nobody wants pesos in other parts of the world. If they had soda, I would get strawberry, grape, leechie(sp), apple and any other cool one they have. This country is also down to zero Dr.Pepper, MoutainDew or RootBeer and has been for twenty years. I don't drink soda much unless it is a flavor that I have not had in many years.

That is it for this month's installment of "Man, I miss that stuff".

I cannot read Korean, but the dessert on the left side on the first photo is familiar. We have Dr Gerald Rolls Rolls. This is similar to that. At least in the looks. I do not know the taste of that Korean rolls.
