Tasting coffee from Aragua, Venezuela

20231105_094154.jpg

Hello everyone, after some time without visiting this community I want to tell you about my experience trying a new coffee.

Aragua state is located in the central region of Venezuela, a few minutes from Caracas, the capital of the country. Although it may seem small and with nothing to tell, its variety of landscapes and cultural histories are enough to write about for hours.

But among its peculiarities, we can not fail to mention the Hacienda Santa Teresa, very popular among Venezuelans for offering sightseeing tours of its hectares, but for producing one of the best rums in the country.

But Hacienda Santa Teresa not only produces rum, I recently discovered that they have started to harvest and produce excellent quality coffee, and it is about this new product, at least new to me, that I want to talk to you today.

Café Alcatraz began to be distributed firstly in Aragua because it is its native state, as I live in Caracas I had not had the opportunity to see it on the shelves, until last Saturday, when visiting a new supermarket in the city I saw the peculiar packaging that immediately caught my attention.

A dark package with black and white horizontal stripes on the sides is the appearance of this package, of excellent quality materials and a small vent at the top that allowed me to slightly appreciate the smell of the grain, which according to its packaging has notes of citrus and panela sugar, known in Venezuela as "Papelon".

The smell captivated me, so I decided to take it home and taste this coffee, which is not only a product that as soon as you see it you notice the good quality with which it was made, but also has a great cause behind it, since the origin of the alcatraz coffee is the project that bears the same name, which works to recruit young people and adults with behavioral problems from criminal gangs in the city, in order to instill values and work.

Once at home and after reading the history of this brand on its packaging, I opened the coffee to be able to grind it, since the presentation I bought was whole bean.

The first thing that caught my attention was that the coffee bean was slightly moist, since usually coffee beans come quite dry in their packaging.

While grinding the coffee, the smell was incredible, roasted without being bitter, with a lot of aroma. At this point my eagerness to taste the coffee increased.

I prepared my machine in the usual way, looked for my mug (this time my Christmas mug because for me it's Christmas since November 1st) and I had to be patient and wait for it to start brewing.

20231105_093831.jpg

Once again the smell of the coffee kept me expectant, so as soon as I finished brewing I whipped the milk and poured the coffee.

I must say that the smell was good, but the taste was even better. A roasted coffee with a light citric flavor, with a lot of aroma and strength in its taste.

This coffee with an aragüeño seal undoubtedly meets high quality standards and will undoubtedly be part of my shopping list in the future.

I say goodbye for today, but not before inviting you to buy this delicious coffee as soon as you see it on your shelves, I have no doubt that it may already be exported to different countries and continents.

I don't particularly drink coffee but I find this type of production in our country very interesting, that is, the marketing of coffee beans and with notes of other flavors. Excellent manufacturing is seen in the packaging. Hugs 🤗

Hello precious thank you for sharing with us this new brand in the market, I had seen before this hole and by you I just learned of its purpose. It seems unbelievable, but the presentation of a product is very important, that looks very elegant and as you mention quality, I love to know that behind this coffee there is a social work so necessary in our country, I want to try it, but I do not have how to grind coffee beans, we will see what can be done about it.

PS: welcome back to HIVE, a hug and I hope you don't get lost again.
