Tesla looking for the top spot
As the sun shifts and shines through the window, it moves across the room and the cats tend to follow it. In the early morning the seat by the window is a prime spot for them to enjoy. Though there is only room for one.

Walter knows this spot is worth defending, he will not move unless provoked. The sun and sights through the window is worth that battle to him.
Tesla wants this spot, but may not be in the mood to battle for that spot. Walter sees her and awaits any provocation.
She moves on, maybe she just wants to get to the food bowl. Which the most direct route would be up that cat furniture.
She walks around, climbing the home made cat tree. Maybe to flank Walter.. Or maybe just to eat.
