Solo's weekly picks: Homesteads

avatar

Living out in the countryside is quite peaceful, when you have everything you need. That seems to be the balance to many living in rural areas, living far out enough to be happy but close enough to still gather resources. To many others they simply do not want to live in an expensive city. But all and all there is lots to talk about when it comes to homesteading life.

This week I take a look at some homesteading posts on Hive written by plankton (less than 50 HP) and minnows (less than 500 HP).

Here are five posts talking about homesteading:

Holding a Margariteño Tomato plant by the Main Stem//Sujetando por el Tallo Principal una planta de Tomate Margariteño by @hjrrodriguez

https://peakd.com/hive-197995/@hjrrodriguez/holding-a-margariteno-tomato-plant

Visiting their wife's uncles house, they observe a tomato plant growing but it is not supported and just laying on the ground. They help out by tieing it up and showing how to make a simple support. Its always great for friends and family to see give tips on others to improve their homestead.

Week later... by @alt3r

https://peakd.com/hive-187635/@alt3r/week-later

A cat showed up on this persons homestead about a week ago and they have written about their observations of the cat. Got some cute pictures of it up in a tree a swell.

Visiting the farm by @derppunk

https://peakd.com/hive-147010/@derppunk/visiting-the-farm

Going to their uncles farm where they raise cows, they talk about how they have just enough to make milk and cheese for themselves but not enough to sell yet.

Off Grid Living with Michael David by @michaeldavid

https://peakd.com/offgid/@michaeldavid/off-grid-living-with-michael-david

In this post they share their experience about living off grid. And talk about how hard it can be to set up without lots of money. Their property is so far out in the woods the only way to have a electricity is through an off grid setup.

Check, Check . . . Hello? By @crazycowboy

https://peakd.com/ctp/@crazycowboy/check-check----hello

Farmers like to work hard, and play hard. This is the perfect example of what you may find them doing in their off time when they want to have some fun. In this case some rockets are made by farmers and shot off during a rocket festival in Thailand.

That's my five picks for this week, come back next week to see
Solo's next weekly picks. I curate posts every Tuesday and do this through MSP. Thanks so much to the Minnow Support Group for giving me the opportunity to serve as a curator!

That's pretty awesome. When I read about life in the countryside, of course I also quite like it because for me living in the village is very peaceful and very enjoyable.

Great post. Thanks for the showcase. That was nice of you. I'll be adding to our off grid story every friday.

Just noticed your upvote too man. Wow, thanks a lot! That was killer! I love to see people helping minnows like this. This is what hive is all about. I didn't used to be a minnow here, never a whale but was a much bigger fish in 2018. Just now getting back on here. Anyway, thanks again. :)

Thanks for the mention!

Thai farmers are quite creative. And there is always a festival in one of the surrounding areas celebrating an aspect of life here.

And I want to thank you for highlighting posts of people that might not have much traction here yet. It can mean a lot when someone starts out.

Keep up the good stuff!

Regards

Richard Taylor
