Arapán Merú or Quebrada Pacheco, Gran Sabana Tour - Venezuela (Part 7) / ENG-ESP

It was already almost 11:30 in the morning when we arrived at our second destination of the day after having visited the Mauraik Waterfall, as I told you in the previous post. Now we were going to visit a very crowded place in La Gran Sabana, the Arapán Merú Waterfall, as it is called in the Pemón language, or the Quebrada Pacheco (Pacheco Ravine), which is located at Km 237 of the Troncal 10 highway.

Ya eran casi las 11:30 de la mañana cuando llegamos a nuestro segundo destino del día después de haber visitado el Salto Mauraik, como les conté en la publicación anterior. Ahora íbamos a conocer un lugar muy concurrido en La Gran Sabana, el salto Arapán Merú como se le dice en lengua pemón o Quebrada Pacheco, que queda en el Km 237 de la carretera Troncal 10.

Back to the water, in this region of southern Venezuela you will not stop being amazed by the diversity of landscapes through which the vital liquid flows and you will always walk with wet clothes between one place and another because the humidity of the environment makes it difficult for them to dry.

Nuevamente al agua, en esta región del sur de Venezuela no pararás de asombrarte por la diversidad de paisajes por donde transcurre el vital líquido y siempre andarás con la ropa mojada entre un lugar y otro porque la humedad del ambiente hace difícil que se te seque.

Upon arrival there is a large parking space and several services for travelers: park ranger station, camping area, shacks for rent and restrooms. To go to where the waterfall is, you have to walk about 20 minutes along a path with a slight climb.

Al llegar hay un lugar amplio para estacionar y varios servicios para los viajeros: puesto de guardaparque, área para acampar, churuatas para alquilar y baños. Para ir hasta donde se encuentra el salto hay que caminar unos 20 minutos por un sendero con leve subida.

From the top we can have incredible views of the savannah, these panoramas make me feel an inexplicable joy, the doses of nature put me in that state hehehe.

Desde lo alto podemos tener vistas increíbles de la sabana, estos panoramas me hacen sentir una alegría inexplicable, las dosis de naturaleza me ponen en ese estado jejeje.

In this way we arrive at this waterfall that is surrounded by many green areas, the color of its waters stands out. In this part there were quite a few people bathing in the natural pool that forms and many jumped from the rocky parts.

Así llegamos a esta cascada que está rodeada de muchas áreas verdes, el color de sus aguas resalta. En esta parte había bastantes personas bañándose en la piscina natural que se forma y muchos se lanzaban desde las partes rocosas.

Some people in my group took their dip all at once and others like my sister and I sat down to eat something first because it was already noon.

Algunas personas de mi grupo se dieron su chapuzón de una vez y otras como mi hermana y yo, nos sentamos primero a comer algo porque ya era mediodía.

There are also other shallower pools out there, more suitable for children, where they can bathe safely because they aren't deep.

También hay otros pozos por ahí menos profundos, más aptos para los niños, en los que pueden meterse sin peligro porque no son hondos.

Then, always near the course of the river, we walked to another part of this spa along a marked path. There the vegetation was more abundant and the landscape I perceived more exotic too.

Luego, siempre cerca del curso del río, caminamos hacia otra parte de este balneario por un sendero marcado. Por allí la vegetación era más abundante y el paisaje lo percibí más exótico también.

At that point my sister and I had separated from our group and we didn't know where we were going but we got to a place where the river ran through a wide stone slab and there were people throwing themselves down there like a slide, super fun, so we stayed there also enjoying.

En ese punto mi hermana y yo nos habíamos separado de nuestro grupo y no sabíamos a dónde íbamos pero llegamos a un lugar donde el río corría por una amplia laja de piedra y había gente lanzándose por allí como en un tobogán, súper divertido, así que nos quedamos ahí también disfrutando.

A while later a group of children of the Pemón indigenous people who were playing around there appeared and spontaneously began to sing for us tourists, a nice gesture. I don't remember what song it was but they sang it in their language and got a lot of applause, they were very happy.

Un rato después apareció un grupo de niños de la etnia indígena pemón que estaban jugando por allí y espontáneamente se pusieron a cantar para nosotros los turistas, un bonito gesto. No recuerdo qué canción era pero la interpretaron en su lengua y se llevaron muchos aplausos, quedaron contentos.

Our guide, Capino, was already calling us to gather at the parking area because we had to leave soon, and from there, near the road, we have another view of the place.

Nuestro guía, Capino, ya nos estaba llamando para agruparnos en el área del estacionamiento porque pronto debíamos irnos, y desde allí, cerca de la carretera, tenemos otra visión del lugar.

While we were waiting for all the people in our group to arrive, my sister took this photo of me so that the damage that the puri puri (abundant insects of La Gran Sabana) had done to some parts of my body would be recorded for posterity... Itching was activated especially at night, at bedtime. I hadn't brought repellent against them but anyway, the people in the group who did had it didn't work much for them either.

Mientras esperábamos que llegara toda la gente de nuestro grupo, mi hermana me tomó esta foto para que quedara registrado para la posteridad el estrago que habían hecho los puri puri (insectos abundantes de La Gran Sabana) en algunas partes de mi cuerpo... La picazón se activaba sobre todo en la noche, a la hora de dormir. Yo no había llevado repelente contra ellos pero de todos modos, a las personas del grupo que sí tenían tampoco les funcionó mucho.

Before we left, it started to drizzle a little, in this way we said goodbye to the Arapán Meru.

Antes de irnos empezó a lloviznar un poco, así nos despedimos del Arapán Merú.

Our tour of this day continued until night through other interesting places, which I will show you in the next post.
