A brief walk through the UCV [ENG-ESP]

One of the most spectacular places in Caracas is undoubtedly the Central University of Venezuela, or University City, as it is also known. Although it is often not mentioned among the tourist attractions of the city, I always recommend visiting it to those who do not know it yet.

In these few photos I took some time ago, long before the government authorities carried out a deep process of restoration of all the facilities, I passed by some of its emblematic places.

I was running some errands around there and while walking to where I had to go, I captured in this brief visit part of the roofed corridors, near the area they call "no man's land", then the colorful mural by Mateo Manaure on the facade of the Concert Hall, the Rectorate square with the iconic clock, and before leaving, I stopped at the famous chichas stand to refresh myself with a glass of this typical Venezuelan drink made from rice and milk.

The University City was inaugurated in 1954, the work of the great Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva, and in 2000 UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site. I hope to return soon to make an extensive tour to share here.

Uno de los lugares más espectaculares de Caracas, es sin duda la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), o Ciudad Universitaria, como también se la conoce. Aunque muchas veces no se menciona entre los atractivos turísticos de la ciudad, yo siempre recomiendo visitarla a los que aún no la conocen.

En estas pocas fotos que hice hace tiempo, mucho antes de que las autoridades gubernamentales realizaran un profundo proceso de restauración de todas las instalaciones, pasé por algunos de sus lugares emblemáticos.

Estaba haciendo unas diligencias por allí y mientras caminaba hacia donde tenía que ir, capturé en esta breve visita parte de los pasillos techados, cerca de la zona que llaman “tierra de nadie”, luego el colorido mural de Mateo Manaure en la fachada de la Sala de Conciertos, la plaza del Rectorado con el icónico reloj, y antes de irme, me detuve en el famoso puesto de chichas para refrescarme con un vaso de esta bebida típica venezolana hecha a base de arroz y leche.

La Ciudad Universitaria fue inaugurada en 1954, obra del gran arquitecto venezolano Carlos Raúl Villanueva, y en el año 2000 la Unesco la declaró Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Espero volver pronto para hacer un recorrido extenso para compartir por acá.
