How do you hide supply problems in a retail store?

Today was a bad day...I was forced to go to Walmart to save my 40 year old fig tree! The new pot I bought last year fell apart, and I have to bring it in before it freezes. The only place locally to find what I had to have was wally world, which I avoid like the plague it really is!

When I went, I found this:

I was a little surprised to see empty shelves!

Then I saw this:

And this:

As well as this:

I started thinking about what I'd do if I had to hide the fact that I couldn't keep my shelves stocked. They were adding a set of external doors...which would be handy if you decide to rent space. That gives them the excuse of remodeling for disarray.

Then I'd remove a lot of shelves, so they wouldn't look empty; and bring out seasonal stock from the warehouse, to fill the space. Kind of like the pictures above....

I also noticed that they added a huge "waiting area" for vaccine injection seating. Way more Space than was necessary, and all the chairs were empty! Then they moved the healthcare supplies out on the floor, to fill more empty space.

It was full of echoes in Walmart, I'm guessing that a quarter of the building was empty; not including the warehouse that was moved out onto the floor.

Lot's of unused space with so much spread out. Lot's of talk about supply issues of lot's of stuff happening.

That is expensive floor space, so something major it happening. The difficult source material is one factor I'm sure. Wouldn't it be ironic if they were forced to o buy from local vendors again?

I just traveled all down the east coast, and didn't see anything like this. It would be my guess that the store you were in is closing soon, or remodeling. My local store looked a lot like this when they put in new floors, then again when they got new freezers.

This one is a new store, but they are remodeling. They have 3 others close, maybe I'll go look them over too.

I noticed the floors have been stripped and clear coated, and has that warehouse feel.

A major effort to get "somewhere", maybe a FEMA processing center? Whatever it is, I'm sure it isn't good for us!
