Have you ever wondered what's inside your prescriptions?
My wife needed antibiotics a few months ago, and she's on a tube feed; so these horse pills need to be processed first. Amazing what you can get used to, if you have no choice! So I ground it up, and was surprised: 
These pieces are the consistency of soft plastic, and I suspect they are the lab substrate; that they used to grow the antibiotic. This is what I used:

This is my favorite mortar and pestle, and I use it often! This is when all the meds are added: 
This is ground and mixed. It took a long time to actually grind up these tabs, I had to cut them up fine first. They wouldn't go through the feeding tube, the size they were! Then I ground them up very fine, before adding the rest. My pharmacist friend told me it would dissolve in the stomach in 20 minutes...but that can't get there! After adding the water: 
This is injected into the feeding tube. So giving her a simple antibiotic, took 30 minutes; partly because of lazy pharmceutical production! I honestly don't know how they meter the strength, in plank form. Not consistent with mass production practices....
I expect to see more posts like this as the pharmaceutical industry collapses from the current weight of lawsuits. Very informative post my friend.

I worked in medical for four decades, but saw it was dead in 2008! I still solve problems others can't, for a lot of cash! I dump all this surplus income into the homestead, it's paid for most of my solar equipment so far.
Two decades ago I jumped into herbals with both feet, and never looked back! I watch all the lawsuits on stuff they wanted me to take, and never regretted the transition.
You're right on pharmacy supply failures, has to happen; and those not prepared will be in trouble!
Keep on prepping, and outthink these evil people.

honestly, I'm very wary of pills. If there is an option to take cannabis or a pill made from a pharmaceutical company, I'd rather take the cannabis.
There are a lot of good herbals, cannabis is one of many...look at at them all.
I avoid prescriptions myself, whenever I can!

It is possible to buy a pill crusher at the pharmacy for a couple of bucks or so. I find it makes quick work of crushing giant horse size pills into powder.
This crushes proper pills at an amazing rate! I really love this unit, it is heavy grey marble...and fast.
I ought to see if they make a larger one!
No modern design here, will last forever; if it's not dropped....
