Wednesday Walk - Remeber the Alamo!

I took a walk around the Alamo for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

Here is the iconic church at the center of the Alamo. I thought it would be bigger when I got there after seeing it in movies and whatnot. Still it is all built out of stone and is quite impressive.

The walls are quite strong and will probably last hundreds of years.

In the East courtyard there is a huge old tree. I didn't see any plaque telling how old it was but I would imagine it is quite old. Maybe it was planted there when the Alamo was first built.

Here is some nice Spanish Colonial style walkway in the West side. Tourists were swarming all around.

Here is the gift shop, who knows what it used to be when it was a fort.

I thought about getting one of these Davy Crockett dolls for my daughter but I had no room in my suitcase.

It would be hard to bring one of these toy guns through the airport back home lol.

Right outside the Alamo I got lucky to see the longhorn stampede they put on every now and then.

Some cowboys lead them around the highways downtown. Lots of mooing and pooing.

PSX_20240207_082111.jpg
I just wonder how they don't accidentally poke each other's eyes out.

The cowboys probably get jabbed in the leg quite a bit if they aren't careful. This kind of reminded me of my younger day's in Arizona where various black angus cows would chase me out of their grazing fields lol. Getting chased by a longhorn would be a bit more scary.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

What a beautiful place to know and visit, I have heard about it, but I never thought it would be so beautiful, and all that activity to enjoy.

A transumence in the middle of the city. It’s good to show that! Given the size of the horns, yes, ask yourself how the cows don't end up one-eyed hahahah

I was lucky to see it in time. They only do that a few times a year there. Quite alot of loud mooing and the cows seemed oblivious to all the people on the sides of the road cheering at them.

It's something to do and see at least once in your life.

When I was little I used to go to rodeos and practice roping calfs. I never got advanced enough to rope them while riding a horse though.

This activity doesn't exist for me but I might have liked to try it when I was younger. Today I don't want to hurt myself anymore hahahaha

Very cool you got to see the longhorns!

I just wonder how they don't accidentally poke each other's eyes out.

If I remember correctly both the male and females have horns so yeah I bet this is a problem 😊

I remember being overwhelmed by the crowd and underwhelmed by the size of the Alamo too. I still enjoyed the visit though.

My boss said you have to try and Remember the Alamo! because its so small. I can only imagine how many impaled ranchers there are out there. They seemed pretty docile compared to the black angus that used to chase me when I was hiking in the desert of Arizona.
