Wednesday Walk - Morning Heat

The heat wave finally hit us after such a cold start to summer for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

Today I had to work from home so I took a stroll around town early in the morning. It was quite hot already. This is some kind of strange collage art downtown.

Another collage of a cardinal. Not sure what all the skulls have to do with anything lol.

Meanwhile a real life bird is stuffing a bunch of nest material behind the tornado sirens. They will get a rude awakening if these things go off.

What used to be a bank is now turning into a park. They are taking their time on this while the weather is good. They better have it done before winter hits.

A skinny passage way between restaurants and the civic center. Sometimes they decorate this secret passage way for various holidays.

This bee butt wasn't cooperating with me trying to take a picture.

Lots of rabbits are out in the early morning. I tried my best to sneak up on this one for a closer shot but it was no use. If you can walk directly in front of them you can stay in their blind spot. This one was smart and turned its head sideways.

The fire department has a huge flag this year for the 250th anniversary of America. I suspect the fireworks and parades will be twice as large this year.

A cleaner next to us went out of business. He left his beloved aloe vera behind in the alleyway. I thought it would die but it seems to be rejuvenating. Maybe I'll get my wife to try and transplant it. But who knows what sort of mealy bugs or aphids it has on it now.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

If you give the roots a wash to remove all the old soil and spray the roots completely clean with a spray bottle, you'll get rid of the mealybugs. Leave all to dry out in a cool dry place and repot and you'll be good to go

Thanks, I'll give it a try, at the very least I suspect we can get clippings. But it looks like the whole root system looks good now that it rained.

I hope there will be no tornados 🌪 for many reasons, but because of the birds as well. :D

These are some really cool collage works 👌🎶

Yeah we had a few bouts of tornados already, they rarely make it to where I'm at though but we did run to the basement once already just to be safe. I think those silly house sparrows just built their nest after tornado season so they must be smart about it lol.

Fireworks will be huge

Sorry couldn't resist. That first collage is a northern flicker. They come through here in the spring.

Plot twist its a red bellied woodpecker. I'm avoiding the fireworks crowds no space to stand. Its more fun to go to Indiana and buy some then shoot them off in the boondocks.

Damn your right. We don't see many of those. I usually identify the flickers because they are ground foragers

I only know because I was misidentifying them for years until I saw two of them together at a feeder.
