Wednesday Walk - A Strange Mix

It's time for a strange mix of things for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

El Nino has brought tons of rain and a coolish summer to my area. Thus the musrhooms are all over the place this year.

These things are huge. My daughter immediately ran over to this plot of giant mushrooms to pick one. Sadly these are not edible parasol mushrooms rather these are called the green vomiter as the spores are green and people often mistake them for an edible parasol. Then when eaten it cause lots of vomiting and your stomach needs to be pumped.

On the way back from our playground walk we saw a disheveled gnome setup. Of course I ended up waiting around for 10 minutes while my daughter fixed it.

Now on to the lake, it has been quite high and flooded. Lots of beached fish around it and it kind of reeks of their rotting corpses. Thus we haven't been walking around it as much.

Instead we walk more in the downtown area and I get to see various fancy bikes like this. Perhaps I'll used this as a reference for a marker rendering when I get time.

Or maybe I should reserve the time for a marker rendering of this boat of a car? I used to drive a Dodge Polaris that was this big, imagine parallel parking in this thing lol.

Meanwhile in the city I got to visit MHub an interesting manufacturing incubator space featuring all sorts of interesting electronics, 3d printing and various other manufacturing technology.

1000006713.jpg
Back in the suburbs I finally got to see a cicada shedding its shell.

1000006714.jpg
It was a fun learning opportunity for my daughter.

1000006546.jpg
Just a bit more fungi discoveries on our walks. This is bird's nest fungi, it eventually loses its orange top to reveal eggs that spread spores. Raindrops hit the nest and launch the spore eggs everywhere.

1000006547.jpg
More Dog Vomit Slime Mold. This stuff is everywhere this year because of the heat and humidity.

That's all for now, this #fungifriday will be filled with mushrooms and I forgot to take shots of the scenery for #wednesdaywalk.

A strange mix indeed! 😄 Every walk can bring something unexpected, and that’s what makes the little adventures more interesting. 🚶‍♀️🌿

Gotta love the mushroom names dog vomit, green vomiter, even death cap, destroying angel... there are some great ones out there. Great that you got to show your daughter one of the aliens invading our planet 😆 theres a story for you. I had a '75 Olds Cutlass the the same 350 engine as that Chevelle in your photo. GM made that engine forever. The small block V8.

Yeah the common names are hilarious, I learn all the dangerous ones first, other names include the sickener and the satan bolete. The big boat cars sure had some pep in them. Barely tough the gas and it was off to the races. Thankfully my school parking lot was just a dirt lot so no need for parallel parking. I would not like to get into a wreck in that thing, though its all metal design would decimate any of the fiberglass cars on the road now. The thing was so long if you parked it on a hill the windshield would crack.

my next car was a 1972 Vega. I could parallel park that in a phone booth lol

What a fascinating walk with your daughter. Great fun and educational for us all.

Do you have to go out early to see mushrooms?
Somehow I've got it in my head that it's a early morning activity?
