Three Tune Tuesday - Hidden Tracks of the 90s

avatar

Here are a few hidden tracks from the 90s for this #threetunetuesday by @ablaze

This first one is Disgustipated by Tool. Pretty weird and hilarious, let the rabbits wear glasses to avoid the carrot holocaust.

Here's one by Marilyn Mansion called Day 3. By now everyone had been doing the hidden track gimmick so they just called it a bonus track. Most other MM hidden tracks are unlistenable and are meant to jump scare people with cd boom boxes.

Here's one by Nirvana called Endless Nameless. I think the record companies invented the hidden track gimmick to fill up the cd and they usually ended up throwing outtakes or rejected songs at the end. It would be quite a plot twister if they put their best song as the hidden track and their outtake as the first song.

Thats all for now, thanks for listening :-)

I loved Nirvana and saw them live. Whilst I never CHOOSE to listen to them now, if I hear them by chance I enjoy every second. No wonder the new generations fall in love with them over and over.

I kinda liked Tool but didn't get into them much and wasn't a fan of MM. Being in my 20s 90s means I have a huge back catalogue of tunes to share from that era - I darent even start.

I was still a bit to young to go to concerts when Nirvana hit the scene. But eventually I managed to get into a tool concert, they go all out on trippy visuals. I learned quite a few nirvana songs on guitar as they were easy enough for a beginner and it impressed all the kids at school lol.

Nice theme for three tune Tuesday 👍 I think hidden tracks are lost on current music crowd because CDs are going the way of vinyl 🤦‍♂️ Remember when thematic records were a big deal? and when the order on a record was important? they were set up like a DJs play list very deliberately.

I still listen to a few bands that do entirely themed albums like Dream Theater but now the industry is just setup for one off singles. I miss the format of albums as a full experience, now we just get adhd tik tok style content in all forms of media.
