Mushroom Monday - Meadow Mushrooms

Its time for meadow mushrooms on this #mushroommonday

Look at these huge mushrooms.

I tried picking one but it fell apart. Notice the ring on the stem and slightly pinkish gills.

Here is one that is more ripe for picking. The really big ones get loaded down with gnats.

Meadow mushrooms can be identified by their stem ring and especially their pinkish gills.

Sadly these ones all grew on a path where roundup is sprayed. Thus if these were eaten they would give you a major dose of glyphosate.

As they get older the gills turn black. They are still harevestable but by now they are usually too buggy.

These were some really old ones. Fully loaded down with gnats and they stink kind of like fish.

Someday I hope to find them in a natural area without weed killer chemicals. But even then these mushrooms basically taste like normal white store bought mushrooms.
