A Trip to a Garden

I took a trip to a large garden recently and found quite a variety of blooming flowers. They even had a little pond with blooming lotus flowers.

Koi and goldfush liked hanging around under the liky pads. Sadly they didn't have fish food machines to feed them. I wonder if koi fish like eating Japanese beetles?

Here's a couple more lotus flowers blooming. I see another goldfish 8s headed for this shady island. Maybe they eat alagae under the lily pads.

Milkweed is growing everywhere here and the monarch larvae has hatched. Quite a few of the butterflies are out right now.

I think they might have another batch of butterflies hatching in September and those will be the ones that migrate south for the winter to Mexico.

The cone flowers are in full bloom with bees collecting their pollen.

Now for the rest of the garden. They have quite a few manicured displays here with colorful plant designs. This display kind of looks like lava and flames.

Other areas are just colorful. For some reason the bees weren't attracted to them. Maybe the pollen is bitter.

The rose garden area was mostly roasted by the summer heat. This yellow rose was still pristine.

Here's an unopened rosebud from the same plant. Lets hope it can survive the onslaught of the sun and Japan

Look at this exotic flower. I'm no expert on flowers I wish I knew its name.

I see these out in the wild all the time. I wonder if they originated from this garden and they were spread around by the wind and birds eating the seeds.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

The monarch butterfly is nice and plentiful over here. I'm sure there are many other fancy butterflies in Suriname as well.

I think the lovely flower is a Tiger Iris. We had some iris in California and I really love them. Great colors in the gardens. Our flowers here are a bit behind. Coneflowers not quite blooming, milkweed just starting. But some of that is just where we have things planted, not catching as much sun as they would like. Love the lily pads and koi. If they like Japanese beetles, maybe I can make some money shipping them mine 🤣

I didn't get a chance to catch some Japanese bettles to test on the koi. I suspect they might spit them out again because of their scratchy legs. Only the bluegill are tough enough to eat them. Thanks for the id on the iris. Gotta learn my flowers eventually.

The water of the pond was remarkable clear. You could see the fish good.
And the butterflies. Stunning. Amazing flowers… what a great time out.
Have a wonderful Tuesday today 👋🏻☀️

It was a perfect day out after a rain. Though the sun managed to dry out the roses a bit.
