Una vez más estoy en la comunidad Music para compartir un nuevo Three Tune Tuesday, esta vez en su edición, número 70, espacio creado por el amigo @ablaze, para que todas las personas que hacemos vida en la plataforma, independientemente que seamos o no músicos, podamos compartir tres canciones que nos parecen geniales y dignas de reseña.
Once again I am in the Music community to share a new Three Tune Tuesday, this time in its edition, number 70, a space created by the friend @ablaze, so that all the people who make life in music platform, regardless of whether we are musicians or not, we can share three songs that we think are great and worthy of review.
Como de costumbre, hoy les traigo parte de mi colección, y he vuelto a los acetatos, en este caso el disco Fahrenheit, la sexta producción de la legendaria banda estadounidense Toto, un grupo conformado en la década de los 70, que ha tenido una larga y exitosa trayectoria a lo largo del tiempo, aún con los cambios que han experimentado en su estructura o composición. No sé si recuerdan canciones como África o Rosanna, que iniciando los 80 fueron unos hits, (y luego también), bueno, a este grupo me refiero.
As usual, today I bring you part of my collection, and I have returned to the acetates, in this case the album Fahrenheit, the sixth production of the legendary American band Toto, a group formed in the 70's, which has had a long and successful career over time, even with the changes they have experienced in its structure or composition. I don't know if you remember songs like Africa or Rosanna, which at the beginning of the 80s were hits, (and later also), well, I'm referring to this group.
¿A ustedes nunca les ha pasado que compraban un disco sólo por una canción? A mí sí, y este fue mi caso, ya que compré este acetato fundamentalmente por una sola canción, pero luego hablaremos de ella. Lo cierto es que yo ya había oído a Toto infinidades de veces. Tengo unos primos que habían viajado a Estados Unidos e Inglaterra, y estaban bien curtidos con esto de la música que se hacía en ambos países, así que Toto los conocí por ellos en los muy tempranos 80; y luego claro, estaban las emisoras radiales, las guerras de minitecas y las revistas especializadas.
Has it ever happened to you that you bought a record just for a song? It has for me, and this was my case, since I bought this acetate basically for a single song, but we'll talk about it later. The truth is that I I had already heard Toto countless times. I have some cousins who had traveled to the United States and England, and they were very experienced with this music that was made in both countries, so I met Toto through them in the very early 80s; and then, of course, there were the radio stations, the mini-library wars and the specialized magazines.
Cuando oí la melodía que me hizo comprar este LP, regresaba a casa del liceo en un transporte público. Afortunadamente en los 80 no se oía reguetón o cosas similares en los autobuses y otros medios de transporte, sino de mi adolescencia tendría otros recuerdos musicales. Yo tuve la gran suerte de oír muy buena música dentro y fuera de mi hogar. Bueno, lo cierto es que este disco lo compré en mi discotienda de siempre, que como he comentado en un post previo, era de la familia de un compañero de estudios. Para ese momento su P.V.P. o Precio de Venta al Público, fue de Bs. 65,00 que equivaldría a 2.70 dólares americanos del momento (1986), precio muy económico en comparación con otras producciones, creo que se debe a que este LP fue una edición sencilla, no recuerdo realmente si traía o no un cancionero. Éste, como otros acetatos, fue fabricado en Venezuela, bajo licencia de CBS Columbia, y se comercializó en mi país, de allí que los títulos de las canciones en el rotulado del disco estén en Español e Inglés.
When I heard the melody that made me buy this LP, I was on my way home from high school on public transport. Fortunately, in the 80s, reggaeton or similar things were not heard on buses and other means of transport, otherwise I would have other musical memories from my adolescence. I was very lucky to hear very good music inside and outside my home. Well, the truth is that I bought this album in my usual disco store, which, as I mentioned in a previous post, belonged to the family of a fellow student. By that time its P.V.P. o Retail Price, it was Bs. 65.00, which would be equivalent to 2.70 US dollars at the time (1986), a very cheap price compared to other productions, I think it is because this LP was a simple edition, I don't really remember if it had or not a songbook. This, like other acetates, was manufactured in Venezuela, under license from CBS Columbia, and was marketed in my country, hence the titles of the songs on the album labeling are in Spanish and English.
Como ven en las fotografías que incluyo, la estética de la portada es algo minimalista: Un fondo blanco, con una imagen o cuadro pintado como en acuarela, el nombre de la banda en la parte superior derecha, y el de la producción en la parte inferior central, todo muy modesto. Se puede ver en la imagen una calle, y en primer plano está la parte de atrás de un automóvil de los 60, luego se observa a un hombre que sale de una edificación y mira a una mujer que se encuentra recostada de la pared de ese edificio, quien a su vez le devuelve la mirada volteando la cabeza hacia atrás, como por encima del hombro. Esta imagen es una escena del video de la canción que me hizo comprar este disco; y para que comparen, por aquí les dejo el capture de pantalla que muestra esa escena en particular, el cual extraje de su video oficial. La contraportada también se mantiene en blanco, pero tiene las fotografías de los integrantes de la agrupación para ese momento, así como los nombres de las canciones y datos técnicos. Casi todo el texto está en una fuente tipo script, muy utilizada en esa década.
As you can see in the photographs I am including, the aesthetics of the cover is somewhat minimalist: A white background, with an image or picture painted as in watercolor, the name of the band in the upper right part, and the name of the production in the lower center, all very modest. You can see in the image a street, and in the foreground is the back of a car from the 60's, then you can see a man coming out of a building and looking at a woman who is leaning against the wall of that building, who in turn looks back at him turning her head back, as if over her shoulder. This image is a scene from the video of the song that made me buy this album; and for comparison, here is the screenshot that shows that particular scene, which I extracted from the official video. The back cover is also blank, but it has the pictures of the band members at that time, as well as the names of the songs and technical data. Almost all the text is in a script font, very used in that decade.
Ahora vamos con mis canciones / Now let's go with my songs
La primera canción que traigo para compartir con ustedes, fue la que me llevó a comprar este acetato, y creo que es una de las más bellas de los 80, especialmente por la música, no tanto por la letra, y se trata de la quinta y última melodía del Lado A, “Estaré sobre ti” o “I’ll be over you”. La música que se utiliza en esta canción es de una belleza única, una balada preciosa, en donde la pandereta suena justo lo necesario y tiene unos solos de guitarra bellísimos, además las voces están excelentes. Si bien la letra no es algo del otro mundo, y el video desde mi punto de vista, podría haber sido mil veces mejor, es una de las canciones que siempre tengo presentes al oír música, porque me gusta mucho. Conozcamos un poco de su letra y luego les dejo el video oficial, del cual extraje el capture que ya les comenté en un párrafo anterior, vayan al minuto 1:10 y lo verán.
The first song that I bring to share with you was the one that led me to buy this acetate, and I think it is one of the most beautiful of the 80s, especially for the music, not so much for the lyrics, and it is the fifth and the last melody of Side A, “I'll be over you”. The music used in this song is uniquely beautiful, a beautiful ballad, where the tambourine sounds just right and has some spectacular guitar solos, plus the voices are excellent. Although the lyrics are nothing to write home about, and the video, from my point of view, could have been a thousand times better, it is one of the songs that I always have in mind when listening to music, because I like it a lot. Let's get to know a little about its lyrics and then I'll leave you with the official video, from which I extracted the screenshot that I already told you about in a previous paragraph, go to minute 1:10 and you'll see it
La segunda canción de hoy, corresponde también al lado A de este disco, y se titula “Sin tu amor” o “Without Your Love”, otra hermosa balada que Toto incluye en este LP, con una interesante percusión, y una guitarra utilizada de forma muy oportuna. Me gustó esta canción básicamente por su música, y si bien no sonó mucho en las emisoras de mi ciudad, yo podía oírla de vez en vez en casa. Para ser honesta, a mi criterio las letras de Toto no eran muy profundas o excepcionales, pero sí expresaban los sentimientos de forma sencilla y real. Veamos parte de la canción:
Today's second song also corresponds to side A of this album, and is entitled “Without Your Love”, another beautiful ballad that Toto includes on this LP, with an interesting percussion, and a guitar used in a very timely manner. I liked this song mainly because of its music, and although it didn't play much on the stations in my city, I could listen to it from time to time at home. To be honest, in my opinion, Toto's lyrics were not very deep or exceptional, but they did express the feelings in a simple and real way. Let's see part of the song:
Y ya cerrando las recomendaciones para hoy, he traído otra hermosa balada, “Lea”, que corresponde al cuarto lugar del Lado B de esta producción. Esta canción también la pude oír por primera vez en mi casa, cuando me senté al lado del equipo de sonido a disfrutar de mi disco, lo cual para mí era un ritual, ya que me sentaba muy quieta disfrutando cada melodía, y así no me gustara alguno de los surcos, igual me obligaba a oírlos completos, para poder tener una opinión sólida acerca del LP. Esta canción, también de letra sencilla, tiene buena música, (recordemos que por lo general todos los músicos de Toto, eran unos virtuosos). Aquí les dejo un trozo de la canción:
And closing the recommendations for today, I have brought another beautiful ballad, “Lea”, which corresponds to fourth place on Side B of this production. I was also able to hear this song for the first time at home, when I sat next to the sound equipment to enjoy my album, which for me was a ritual, since I sat very still enjoying each melody, and that way I didn't If I liked any of the grooves, I still forced myself to listen to them completely, in order to have a solid opinion about the LP. This song, also with simple lyrics, has good music (let's remember that in general all Toto's musicians were virtuosos). Here is a piece of the song:

Hola amiga, hace mucho que no escucho esta excelente banda, recuerdo los dos hits más pegados de la época jajaja, Rossana... por una novia que tenía en ese tiempo, te imaginas jajaja, me pusieron hasta la canción para enamorarla jajaja y africa era el otro sencillo del momento que sonó mucho, estas canciones que nos traes no las recuerdo , pero ya las voy a buscar y los colocaré en el server de cocina creativa 😁😊, se que serán muy buenas
Ahh y lo de comprar un lp por una sola cación lo hice muchas veces jajaja, recuerdo uno en particular de Cyndi Lauper, edición especial para Djs, solo se conseguía en USA y era venta muy selecta, no estaba disponible para todos... era un remix brutal

Pues sí, África y Rosanna sonaron full en 1982 o 1983 y luego se convirtieron en clásicos, y es que sin duda Toto fue una gran banda, aún cuando las letras no eran para lanzar cohetes, pero la música sí.

Some good songs indeed! I like the band Toto, I don’t know a whole lot of their songs but they’ve got a good sound. What I like more is how much effort used to go into an album! You don’t get the photo shoots and stuff any longer with bands hahaha. Classic stuff!
This is not his best production, but it certainly has quality. A really good album is Toto IV, too bad I don't have it with me anymore. And yes, the whole production process used to be great. Thanks for the visit. Have a nice day.

Gracias a Dios tengo una memoria casi de elefante, jajajajaja, y sí, tengo varios vinilos y casettes, aunque este año perdí una parte importante porque estuvieron expuestos a la humedad, y la única alternativa fue desecharlos. Gracias por pasar a leer y comentar, que tengas un bonito día.

Thanks for visiting @tengolotodo. Yes, usually every time we hear or read Toto, that's the song we immediately associate, however there are many other good songs, which deserve to be reviewed. I'm going to go through my collection, I think I have another album by them, (I really don't remember), then I'll do another post. Hugs to you too, love the #tttt, it's great to share.

Nobody does a music review like @sirenahippie!! Time, dedication, thought and sincerity went into this one for sure. Thanks for including it in #ttt and it's great to see it get so many great engaging comments and support, as it really deserves it. I would not be that familiar with Toto to be honest, other than their most famous songs Africa and Rosanna, so it was good to hear a few more from this album you shared, which for me is always better, that way you unearth some hidden gems for people, Lea was my favorite of the trio.
That's it. I was the same, I would by a new album, go upstairs to my bedroom, press play, take out the inlay card and read along the lyrics while the song played and many time on first play, I found it only OK, then ten plays later I loved the LP or album. I would pay €15 to €20 for album, so I could not afford to not like it!! So different today, which is a shame..
Ohhh, what a beautiful comment, I really feel super good, knowing that you like my #ttt posts, which I really do with dedication and love, because I recover part of my adolescence and youth.
