[ESP/ENGL] Five wise Venezuelan sayings (Number 44)

Estamos finalizando ya el mes de Mayo 2022; y el tiempo está tan apurado al punto que ya vamos casi a mitad de año. Sin embargo, las lluvias, que ya deberían estar presentes, se han tardado en llegar de forma definitiva, están como esperando el momento ideal para acercarse, quedarse y nutrir a la Madre Tierra y todos los seres que le habitamos. El mundo sigue, cada día con más cosas extrañas, más rarezas, y más conflicto; así que no queda alternativa, sino tratar de mejorar nuestro pedacito de mundo, hacerlo más coherente y feliz, tarea a veces difícil, pero hagamos nuestro mejor esfuerzo.

Y para hacer el mundo un poquitico mejor, hoy traigo otra entrega del seriado “Cinco Sabios Refranes Venezolanos”, en este caso la número 44. Estas publicaciones las estoy realizando desde hace ya más de un año, y mi intención con ellas es conservar y difundir un elemento cultural que es importante para mi pueblo, como son los refranes. Reitero que los refranes aquí presentados NO son de mi autoría, sino producto de la tradición oral venezolana, y también recurro a la bibliografía que se reseña en este post; no obstante SÍ elaboro su presentación y análisis. Si deseas conocer más de los refranes venezolanos, al final de este escrito encontrarás los links de los primeros 43 números.

1) “El que quiera vivir sano, almuerce y cene temprano.”

Un refrán práctico, que hace referencia a los sanos hábitos de alimentación y de vida. Si desayunamos temprano, es porque nos levantamos temprano, y así tendremos el tiempo y la fuerza necesaria, para afrontar las tareas de la vida diaria y nuestro cuerpo no sufrirá; y si cenamos temprano tampoco sobrecargaremos nuestro organismo con una digestión tardía. Es un dicho similar a: “Come como un rey, almuerza como un príncipe y cena como un mendigo.”

2) “Está más contento que unas castañuelas.”

Por su sonido, las castañuelas son unos instrumentos musicales que simbolizan la alegría, el vivir feliz; entonces cuando se usa este refrán se hace referencia a que una persona está muy alegre y feliz, tanto como el sonido de las castañuelas.

3) “Estoy más limpio que un resbaladero.”

Un resbaladero es la parte del camino por donde transitan los chivos, ovejas y vacas, área que con el continuo paso de estos animales va alisándose, lustrándose y perdiendo todo rastro de yerba o de piedras, por lo que al hacer referencia a estos sitios, se indica limpieza; pero no es una limpieza de aseo y pulcritud, sino de carencia de dinero.

4) “Suena más que una carreta vacía.”

Las carretas cuando no llevan carga y van vacías, pueden saltar con más facilidad por el camino mientras son arrastradas por los animales, porque no tiene peso que le sustente y le asiente en el camino; entonces cuando se utiliza este refrán, se hace referencia a aquella persona que habla mucho, presume aún más, pero que en realidad no tiene nada, no posee nada.

5) “El que mucho habla, poco hace.”

Refrán similar al anterior, por el cual una persona que hable y exprese que va a hacer o hace muchas cosas, o tiene muchas propiedades, o es bueno en algún área de la vida; realmente no hace nada, (ni lo hará), no posee nada, ni es sobresaliente en lo que dice ser; ya que por lo general estas personas que actúan de este modo, simplemente están haciendo una campaña de autopromoción de su persona, basada en premisas falsas. Puro engaño.

We are already finishing the month of May 2022; and time is so tight to the point that we are almost halfway through the year. However, the rains, which should already be present, have taken a long time to arrive definitively, as they are waiting for the ideal moment to approach, stay and nurture Mother Earth and all the beings that inhabit her. The world goes on, every day with more strange things, more oddities, and more conflict; so there is no alternative, but to try to improve our little piece of the world, make it more coherent and happy, sometimes a difficult task, but let's do our best.

And to make the world a little better, today I bring another issue of the series "Five Wise Venezuelan Sayings", in this case number 44. I have been making these publications for more than a year, and my intention with them is conserving and disseminating a cultural element that is important to my people, such as proverbs. I reiterate that the proverbs presented here are NOT my authorship, but a product of the Venezuelan oral tradition, and I also resort to the bibliography that is reviewed in this post; however, I did elaborate its presentation and analysis. If you want to know more about Venezuelan proverbs, at the end of this writing you will find the links to the first 43 issues.

1) “Who wants to live healthy, have lunch and dinner early.”

A practical saying, which refers to healthy eating and living habits. If we eat breakfast early, it is because we get up early, and thus we will have the time and the necessary strength to face the tasks of daily life and our body will not suffer; and if we eat dinner early we will not overload our body with delayed digestion either. It is a saying similar to: “Eat like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.”

2) “He is happier than some castanets.”

Due to their sound, castanets are musical instruments that symbolize joy, living happily; so when this saying is used, it refers to a person being very cheerful and happy, as much as the sound of castanets.

3) “I'm cleaner than a slide.”

A slide is the part of the road where goats, sheep and cows travel, an area that with the continuous passage of these animals is smoothed, polished and loses all traces of grass or stones, so when referring to these sites, cleaning is indicated; but it is not a cleanliness of neatness, but of lack of money.

4) “It sounds more than an empty wagon.”

The wagons, when they do not carry a load and go empty, can jump more easily down the road while being dragged by the animals, because they do not have weight to support them and settle them on the road; so when this proverb is used, it refers to that person who talks a lot, presumes even more, but in reality has nothing, owns nothing.

5) “Who talks a lot, does little.”

Saying similar to the previous one, by which a person who speaks and expresses that he is going to do or does many things, or has many properties, or is good in some area of life; it really doesn't do anything, (nor will it), owns nothing, nor is it outstanding in what it claims to be; since generally these people who act in this way, are simply carrying out a self-promotion campaign of their person, based on false premises. Pure deception.

They literally have attempeted my murder and are trying to kill me with V2K and RNM. Five years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation.
