In ancient times, when war was rife,
The Art of War was key to life;
For battles won by skill and wits,
Were battles won with fewer hits.

Confucius knew this all too well,
His teachings still ring like a bell;
For strategy and tactics grand,
Are skills we all must understand.

The first step is to know oneself,
For victory begins with stealth;
One must be calm, composed, and wise,
And not let fear obstruct our eyes.

The second step is to know one's foe,
Their strengths, their weaknesses, and all;
For by knowing them, we can devise,
A plan to make them compromise.

The third step is to be flexible,
To adapt to changes inevitable;
For when the tide of war does shift,
We must be ready with a swift.

And finally, the key to all,
Is to know when to fight, and when to stall;
For in the midst of war and strife,
Peace and harmony must rule our life.

So let us learn from Confucius' Art,
To master the war within our heart;
For by understanding our psyche's game,
We can find peace, and end the shame.

Welcome to "Rhyme and Read" a collection of book summaries in verse. In this series, we'll explore some of the greatest works of literature through the art of poetry. Each poem is a summary of a famous book, condensed into a few stanzas of rhyme and meter. This time I created a poem inspired by the book The Art Of War by Confucius, This book has been around for more than 2000 years and the techniques from the book are still being teached and being used by the most successful people.

''So let us learn from Confucius' Art

To master the war within our heart''

Okay, I learnt something new. I feel that this applies to the real world too and not only in the world of "war". Especially the line that say, know when to fight and know when to stall.

This was beautifully scripted ✨

Hello, @silviu93. I love this poem! You perfectly capture the teachings of Confucius here. Simply, life is a battlefield and victory starts from within —knowing ourselves first! I love your use of rhyming couplets, by the way. Beautifully written. 🙂 !LUV

When I first read the title I though, hm, Confucius? I've read Sun Tzu's Art of War a couple of times and than I remembered that quite a few authors are attributed to these teachings (Confucius, Mencius, Lao-Tzu etc.). Fantastic idea to squeeze out the key principles of this amazing book and transform that energy into a poem 👍

Indeed, you are right, The book has been written by Sunt Tzu but I love Confucius, Even tho many think that Confucius didn't even really exist.
Thank you!
