Hello dear friends,

Today, as I'm feeling much better health-wise, I wanted to create this post about a village I visited earlier this summer. You know, it's been a very active summer for me, and to be honest, I've forgotten to share many things here in the community. That's why, now that I've fully recovered, I wanted to share these photos and my story about this beautiful village with you. I don't think I'll post again today, even though it's the weekend because I still want to recover my strength completely, and as I've mentioned, I have a lot more to share with you.

Today, I want to tell you about the village of Giano dell'Umbria, located in the province of Perugia in the Umbria region. It is situated in a hilly area rich in history, art, and nature. I was quite intrigued by the somewhat unique name of this village, and after careful research on the internet, I discovered that its name is linked to the Roman deity Janus, the god of doors and passages. This is because this place is still located in a very strategic location, and for me, this was a very interesting discovery.

This village has very ancient origins. In fact, the remains of a Roman villa were found here, and the ancient Via Flaminia passes through this area. However, as you can see from the photos, it is indeed a beautiful medieval village that developed around the castle and its stunning Abbey of San Felice, a splendid Romanesque church from the 12th century that was later expanded over the years.

Naturally, like many places I've discovered, I stumbled upon it somewhat by chance. I must say that these areas are not only interesting for these hidden gems but also because these Umbrian regions are well-known for the production of oil and wine. There are numerous farms and olive mills around this village that can be visited.

As usual, it was very positive for me to stroll through the streets of this beautiful village. Although, what I noticed the most was that the people seemed a bit more reserved compared to the people in Tuscany, but perhaps that was just my perception.

Thank you for reading this post. I hope you enjoyed the photos I shared with you. See you soon in my next post!
