Hello dear friends,

Today, once again, I want to keep you company with one of my posts. By the way, I don't remember if I have already told you about this place I have visited several times in Tuscany. I tried to search in my previous posts, but unfortunately, I'm aging, and I don't recall if I have talked to you about this enchanting place. Anyway, today I am prepared for it.

Whenever I was in Val d'Orcia, a place I always recommend visiting, a bit off the beaten tourist paths, is undoubtedly Cetona. It's a small town, I think with not even 3000 inhabitants, so a very intimate place to visit. It's located approximately 40 km from Siena, but here we are closer to the Val di Chiana, another significant valley in these parts. Certainly, Cetona is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It's lovely to visit even in the summer because the climate here is not particularly humid; we are at about 500 meters above sea level. What I like most about this place is the historic center characterized by typical narrow alleys, but there are these picturesque squares with beautiful fountains. I am always speechless to see how they built these houses nestled against each other.

Dominating this village is a beautiful castle dating back to the 13th century, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama. Perhaps you would be luckier than me because visiting these places on a sunny day is a whole different experience, but I did my best.

As usual, I always recommend taking a slow stroll through the streets of this place. The beautiful thing about these places is that they are so narrow that not even a car passes through, so you can enjoy this artistic spectacle in total relaxation.

There were several churches to visit, probably many of them from the Renaissance period, so they have many years of history. Unfortunately, many of them were closed, probably to prevent people from entering and vandalizing them—a widespread practice in Italy.

In conclusion, I can say that what always strikes me about these places, aside from being well-maintained, is that the few inhabitants who live in these places always try to beautify them in the best way because you can see that they care about the place they live in. Fortunately, they know that especially lately, it has become a very popular destination for tourists from all over the world.

So, I hope you liked the photos I shared, even though they were taken in a bad weather context, and I hope they virtually took you with me on this walk. As usual, I thank you for the support you give me. See you next time, and have a good day, everyone!

I will never get tired of those narrow streets and medieval buildings. Also, I believe bad weather creates a beautiful vibe in the photos

You make an excellent point. Those narrow, winding medieval streets and ancient buildings have such a captivating charm and atmosphere, especially when photographed on a moody, overcast day.

I see that we are all struggling to find a sunny day during our trip in Tuscany!

The place looks beautiful: I'm going to add it to the place I wish to visit during this incoming spring :)

I'm so glad these images have inspired you to add Tuscany to your travel wishlist for this spring. While the summer months are incredibly popular, springtime is actually a magical season to experience the Tuscan countryside.

Yup, agreed! If only it could last until Autumn 😭 here in Florence Summer is a continous struggle, with temperature that nowadays are too high and bring you away every will to do something...

Tuscany is impressive from all points of view but Cetona looks no less interesting either! Those narrow paths remember me about Venice, which is yet another gem of Italy :)

While vastly different in terms of geography, there is something about the scale, stone construction and age of these medieval Italian towns that creates a similar sense of being transported back through history.
