Exploring the Charming Village of Lari in Tuscany
Hello, dearest friends,
During this weekend spent in Tuscany, I revisited a village I had been to this summer. I can't recall if I've shared it with you before, but since I was there, I took some more photos to bring to our community. In my opinion, it's a beautiful village, not one of my favorites, but if you find yourself near Pisa, it's worth seeing in person.
It's called Lari, a hamlet of Casciana Terme, located about 30 km from Pisa and approximately 40 km from Florence. The highlight, in my opinion, is the Castle of the Vicars, dating back to the 13th century. Another attraction, as I did, is to take a lovely stroll through the streets of this splendid village. I was fortunate to come across a school group from Puglia that had come to visit, and I think it's a wonderful thing when teachers propose trips to less touristy but still beautiful and art-rich places.
As you could see in some photos, there is a church in Lari that dates back to the tenth century. Subsequently, it has been expanded several times. Inside, I forgot to mention, there is the Madonna with Child by della Robbia, a truly important thing to see. If you happen to be in some places, you might not be able to enter because there was practically a mass going on, and I was prohibited from taking photos. However, I was informed that this important masterpiece will probably be restored in the coming months. This is to make you understand how many small gems there are around, sometimes in small villages.
I, too, had worked in a school for a while, always suggesting trips to lesser-known places, but I wasn't given much consideration. That's partly why I left the job; I believe it's lovely to introduce these villages, true hidden gems of our Italy.
In conclusion, I can say that visiting Lari was another beautiful experience. It stands out compared to other Tuscan villages, and, in my opinion, offers a better quality of life by distancing itself from the stress and hustle of big cities. The population here is growing against the trend, as in recent years, several people have moved here.
As usual, I hope you enjoy the photos I've shared, trying to capture what my eyes see to bring you virtually to this place! See you soon.

One can't help but admire the masonry
Absolutely! The craftsmanship and artistry involved in masonry can be truly awe-inspiring. Whether it's the precision of ancient structures or the creativity displayed in modern designs, masonry often stands out as a testament to human skill and architectural excellence.
